Heh, I'll admit it, I got this idea from the same thread on MMA nicknames. I would have gone into boxing nicks there, but I figured that they deserve their own thread all their own. By and large, I feel that boxing nicknames, even these days, are much better than MMA nicknames.

Ones I like:
Thomas "Hitman" Hearns...totally fitting, and he gets extra points for also being The Motor City Cobra
Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Sugar Shane Mosley
"The Brown Bomber" Joe Louis
"The Manassa Mauler" Jack Dempsey
"Homicide Hank" for Henry Armstrong
"Hands of Stone or Manos de Piedra" Roberto Duran
"Marvelous" Marvin Hagler
"Pretty Boy" Floyd Mayweather...he's just lucky his name's Floyd.
Kermit "The Killer" Cintron...you'd better have a badass nickname if your name's Kermit.
"Smokin'" Joe Frazier
"Iron" Mike Tyson
"The Brockton Blockbuster" Rocky Marciano...as well as being the original "Rock"
"Irish" Mickey Ward
Arturo "Thunder" Gatti...I've also heard Blood 'n Guts for him too
Azumah "The Professor" Nelson
Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles
"The Raging Bull" Jake LaMotta
"Fighting" Harada....yeah, I don't even know what his real first name is.
"El Flaco Explosivo" Alexis Arguello
James "Lights Out" Toney
"The Golden Boy" Oscar de la Hoya
"The Tijuana Tornado" Antonio Margarito
Ricardo "Finito" Lopez...literally, The End
"Kid Diamond" Almaszbek Raimkulov...harkens back to greats like Kid Gavilan, Kid Chocolate, and Kid Azteca.

Those are just some of the many great nicknames around in boxing. Now, for some of the worst:
Lance "GOOFi" Whitaker...he has Rock Newman to thank for that one
Most Assassins, unless it's Larry Holmes, "The Easton Assassin" or Marco Antonio Barrera "The Baby-Faced Assassin"
"The Lollypop Cowboy" Jorge Arce....*shudders*
Owen "What the Heck" Beck...What the hell!? Sounds like he doesn't give a shit.
Ruslan "White Tyson" Chagaev...your nickname should never be someone else's real name, plus, he doesn't even fight like Tyson.
Wladimir "Dr. Steelhammer" Klitschko...I dunno, I just don't care for it that much. Just being Dr. Wladimir Klitshcko is bad ass in and of itself. He should be Wlad the Impaler.

Don't forget that guys' punches even had nicknames in the past:
Rocky Marciano's clubbing right "the Suzie Q"
Ingomar Johansson's straight right "the Hammer of Thor"
Razor Ruddock's strange-angled hookercut "the Smash"
I also remember someone calling Manny Pacquiao's straight left "Manila Ice"...had to chuckle at that one.

wow great list man seriously. You know there is another boxer who used Tyson in his name and thats former cruiserweight title holder Kelvin "Lil Tyson" Davis, and he really DOES fight like Tyson and he even has the tattoo on his face.
