There could be an argument made for Hatton being the #1 P4P fighter in the world should he beat Mayweather, but, as Mic said, it will have to be an especially impressive performance. Even then, I think it is a weak argument. He certainly wouldn't jump to #1 just because he beat Mayweather. That wasn’t the case when Forrest beat Mosley, Tarver beat Jones Jr., ect. That being said, I just don’t see Hatton winning this fight. Mayweather could be the greatest fighter of this generation, and as much as I hate to say it, is possibly one of the greatest fighters ever. That natural ability combined with flawless technique is far from common. However, being a egotistical dickhead is pretty common. It will be interesting to see how he handles Hatton's wrestling/brawling style though.

You can't sleep on Hatton just because he's not quite the technical boxer that Mayweather is. And on top of that Hatton's got boxing skills, at least, the ones he needs to get inside and stay there. He jabs to the chest to get in, like you're supposed to. He works the body hard and mixes body/head combinations in, like you're supposed to. He also moves his head and bobs and weaves when he has to, like you're supposed to. And on top of that, he's a tough son of a bitch who's more motivated for this fight than any other one he's had, even the Kostya Tszyu fight.
No one's saying he's gonna outbox Mayweather, but he can certainly outfight Mayweather. The way Duran outfought Leonard the first time, the way Frazier outfought Ali the first time, and the way Saddler outfought Pep on at least 2 occasions.

I like Ricky but the thing that confuses me about him is he sucked against Urango and Collozo and just dominated an over the hill JLC. When he beat Kostya I was excited and thought he was going to be the next big thing but recently I have been more and more concerned about him fighting another big name. I think that unless PBF gets caught up in Hatton's clinching he will outpoint the Hitman.

Only a fighter technically as good and damn near just as fast will be able to beat him, not a slugger IMO.

Much rather see Sugar Shane fight PBF because i think Shane will beat him. IMO Shane has the speed an power to beat PBF.
