| Roy vs Tito It's On Quote:
Promoter Don King will announce at a Florida news conference Monday that former middleweight champion Felix Trinidad will end a 2½-year retirement to meet former pound-for-pound champion Roy Jones Jr.
Details of when and where the fight will be held remain unclear.
Trinidad and Jones had briefly considered a fight in 2000, when Jones held a light heavyweight title and recognition as the best fighter in the sport.
Trinidad was moving up from welterweight to super welterweight at the time and was looking to knock off a big name after defeating Oscar De La Hoya in 1999 in a battle of then unbeaten welterweight title-holders.

Trinidad has been one of the generation's most popular fighters, but he hasn't competed since he was shut out by Winky Wright on May 14, 2005. Wright won every round in that one-sided fight, prompting Trinidad to announce his second retirement.
Trinidad is 42-2 with 35 knockouts. His only other loss came on Sept. 29, 2001, to Bernard Hopkins for the undisputed middleweight title.
Jones is coming off of a unanimous decision victory over 168-pounder Anthony Hanshaw on July 14. He has held championships at 160, 168, 175 and heavyweight, though he hasn't had a major world title belt since 2004.
Jones is 51-4 with 38 knockouts. He has fought once in 2005, once in 2006 and once in 2007

Anyway i predict total ownage from Roy. 6th round tko. Roy at a lower weight even at his age will be fast and have good power. As i said before Roy even at his age a lower weights will still be imo on top and very hard to beat.

| Trinidad to fight Jones Jr.
source: http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/box...=ESPNHeadlines Quote:
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. -- Felix Trinidad is coming out of retirement again, this time for a shot at Roy Jones Jr.
Trinidad, who hasn't fought since losing to Winky Wright in May 2005 and who's won only two bouts in the last six years, announced plans Monday to meet Jones in January at an undetermined site.
"It's the people's championship," promoter Don King called it, flanked by both fighters at his South Florida headquarters.
Trinidad is a former welterweight, super welterweight and middleweight champion and a national hero in his homeland of Puerto Rico. He took 2½ years off before beating Ricardo Mayorga in 2004, but was dominated when he met Wright seven months later.
He retired again after that fight, but whispers of a Trinidad-Jones possible matchup have been circling for months.
"Most fighters of 'Tito' Trinidad's stature would want a warmup fight after being off for this long," King said. "Not 'Tito' Trinidad."
Trinidad is 42-2; Jones Jr., who scored a unanimous decision against previously undefeated Anthony Hanshaw last month, is 51-4.
"This is going to be one of the most thrilling events we've seen in boxing in many, many decades," King said. "This is about pleasing the people."

Crazy shit!! That's a toss up. In their primes RJJ embarrasses Tito but now, all Tito needs to do is hit him. With that said, RJJ by KO in the 7th, no way can Tito take Roy's power and I think RJJ is defensively good enough to avoid Tito's KO punch, not to mention RJJ is bigger, stronger, and longer.
Good find, rep'd

I can't see Jones losing this fight, but I can see him pulling out sometime before, demanding more money as per his MO. I hope that doesn't happen, but unlike a lot of you, I'm not really interested in this fight. Neither are elite anymore, both of them are old, and Trinidad is cynically coming back for a payday in a fight he has little chance of winning. Even 6 years ago, this fight was a pipe dream, because Jones was so much bigger than Trinidad, and really, so much better. The loser of this fight most likely retires, the winner deludes himself into thinking he can win another title and gets destroyed by someone active and more in his prime. Jones will beat Trinidad, how, I really don't care. They're putting it on PPV; thanks, but no thanks. I'll just wait until the real biggest fight of early '08: Israel Vasquez vs. Rafael Marquez III.

Yeah, well, I was never a Jones or a Trinidad fan (though I always respected their skills), so I myself was never caught up in the sort of debate Afro's talking about. Frankly, the only boxing PPVs within the next 6 months that I'd like to buy are Cotto/Mosley (the undercard is rumored to be pretty spectacular), and potentially, Pacquiao/Marquez. As much as I want to see Hatton crush Mayweather (not likely, though I still think he can beat Fag Gayweather), I don't think I'm too inclined to buy that PPV either.
Really, its because I'm poor and cheap. I simply don't buy PPVs unless I'm getting as much bang as possible for my buck. That, and I work a lot. Sometimes, I just don't have the time to watch something I'd be interested in watching, even when it's free.

Well thankfully, all the great fights are being shown on HBO anyways
but man the end of this year, and next year is full of some great fights
Cotto/Mosley
Hatton/PBF
Possibly
Bhop/Calzaghe
Winky/DLH
as well as
Pavlik/Taylor (Pavlik will make it exciting)
Peters/Oleg
Jones/Trinidad
Barrera/Pacquiao
Vazquez/Marquez 3
and possibly
Pacman/Marquez
I mean damn..
then comes winner of Cotto/Mosley vs winner of PBF/Hatton.. cant go wrong with any scenario here
and the one fight featuring two guys no one cares about, but will still be exciting
Vargas/Mayorga.

I guess I'm the only guy picking Tito in this fight. Trinidad IMO looked pretty good against Mayorga a couple of years ago, and I don't think the fight w/ Winky was as bad as some people made it out to be. That being said, if the old Roy shows up it probably will be a KO. I just can't get past the timid Roy we saw against Glen Johnson and Tarver III.
Tito by UD in a good fight.

Tito wont win a UD, I think the only chance he has is a knockout cuz no matter the age he is too one dimensional to be on Roys level of boxing, he'll get outboxed.
