| Peter-Maskaev Postponed! Quote:
Unbelievable. Fightnews is reporting that yet another big fight has been postponed. This time WBC Heavyweight Champ Oleg Maskaev has been forced to pull out of his October 6 bout with #1 Contender Sam Peter due to an unspecified injury.
The injury plague that hit Boxing hard in September has now moved into October. At least the Pacquiao-Barrera II fight scheduled for the same night is still on.

Boxing is killing itself with this lull in action. When was the last big fight for boxing fans? Marquez v. Vazquez? That was almost two months ago. When was the last big fight for general sports fans? De La Hoya v. Mayweather?
Boxing HAS to step it up. Interest in boxing has been declining for exactly this reason. There just isn’t enough action to maintain consistent interest of the average fan. In the past 2 months the UFC has had 4 pay-per-views, one of which was free on cable, a free Fight Night, and all of the shit that is on Spike everyday now. Why should the average fan pursue an interest in boxing when they've got the UFC coming to them?
If boxing is going to survive this, some serious changes HAVE to be made.
