What's next for Pavlik? Re-match fightings? Taylor or Miranda? Or new challengers like Wright or Hopkins?

This was just another fight where I showed my heart," said newly crowned WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelley Pavlik in the postfight press conference after his impressive seventh round KO of Jermain Taylor. "He came to fight. He has hand speed and a punch." Regarding a rematch, Pavlik said, "If Jermain wants it. I'm ready." Taylor stated, "I definitely want a rematch. I think Kelly's a great fighter and I would love another shot." Regarding round two when he had Pavlik on the canvas, Taylor commented, "In that second round I should have been able to throw more uppercuts. I can't believe I lost. I take my hat off to him, he got knocked down and came back."

Although, there is a rematch clause, Arum recommends that both fighters take an interim fight, with Pavlik possibly making his first defense against John Duddy on the eve of St. Patrick's Day 2008 in Madison Square Garden.

John Duddy is a good boxer, but does not deserve to fight Pavlik, so I doubt it'll happen. Pavlik's next fight will not be until 08, but I'm not sure who it will be against.

Personally, I'd rather see Pavlik either try to unify titles with Arthur Abraham or Felix Sturm (unless those two decide to unify themselves) or possibly take a match with Winky Wright. But I suppose after having two tough fights with the likes of Miranda and Taylor, something of a breather could be in order, something just to make a good slice of dough against a guy who's not a real contender, but a tough, popular kid. But even still, I think Sergio Mora is more deserving of a title shot than John Duddy. If Duddy stays undefeated for the rest of next year and improves to be a real contender, and if Pavlik is still champion, than a late 08/early 09 Pavlik/Duddy showdown would sound pretty good.
