Default Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Rocky Juarez

Now, while most of us are understandibly in full swoon mode this Saturday because of the Calzaghe/Kessler superfight, let's not forget the other big fight on the same night between WBC Super Featherweight titlist Juan Manuel Marquez and Rocky Juarez, with an undercard bout of IBF Featherweight titlist Robert Guerrero defending his title against Martin Honorio. If you think about it, its a very solid card, and its a real shame that it has to be overshadowed by what's inevitably a bigger fight. Still, props should go to GBP for salvaging this fight, turning a questionable PPV event into a very good Showtime card.

As for the fight itself, I think Marquez will probably win. I would like to see him win, honestly, for no other reason than to be able to begin beating the drums for Pacquiao/Marquez II. Take the Pacman out of the equation, and I think I'd find myself rooting for Juarez to pull the upset. Hell, even a part of me wants him to tip over the apple cart. He's no slouch, even though he's come up short in the 3 title fights he's had so far, the only 3 losses of his career. While Marquez on paper has most of the advantages, let's not forget that Juarez is younger, stronger, and holds a substantial trump card, a combination of his own crushing left hook and Marquez' shaky to average chin. Don't be surprised if Juarez starches Marquez. He's got his back to the wall and this will probably be his last title shot for awhile if he doesn't win. Both guys have a lot of pressure on them to win.

As for the Guerrero/Honorio, I don't know enough about either guy to make a pick, but it seems like it should be a good fight. Both are young and hungry and Guerrero especially has a shot at making a huge impression at 126. A Guerrero win sets him up for big fights with other young titlists like WBC titlist Jorge Linares and WBO titlist Steven Luevano, as well as veteran WBA titlist Chris John, the man who last beat Marquez.

I think Marquez will oubox Rocky. Either way I don't care, I think both are pretty good, and I wanna see a good fight.

That was about as one-sided a fight as I've seen in awhile. Marquez was ready for this fight and he wants Pacquiao next. That fight has to be made.
As for Juarez, he was game, but I think all he showed was that he's not cut out for 130. His left hook landed more than a few times on Marquez and didn't move him, and Marquez isn't exactly known for a good chin. Juarez needs to go back to 126 and reevaluate himself. Keep fighting until he earns a title shot. And that KO by Guerrero on Honorio was spectacular.

So yeah, Pacquiao/Marquez II. Golden Boy, Top Rank, make this fight happen ASAP!
