You know what, it's good that Cotto's corner stopped the fight. Cotto was taking a beating, but now, he gets to come back and fight another day. What's next for Margarito? I hope de la Hoya gives him a shot, otherwise, he needs to rematch Williams or give Cotto a rematch. Either way, I will follow both men, what warriors.
Cotto was doing a great job outboxing Margarito, he just couldn't keep Margarito off of him. After Librado Andrade, Margarito is probably the toughest man in all of boxing. Now you see why Mayweather wanted no piece of him.

I'm sure PBF will be back, I just hope it's in time to fight Margarito/ | I agree. I think PBF would whoop his ass but I would love to see how he does it. It definitely won't be by KO though, but as much as PBF is an asshole, he's really one of the greatest fighters ever.

Margarito/Mayweather would look remarkably like Mayweather/Castillo I....a fight I thought Castillo won. Make no mistake, Margarito would push Mayweather like no other and could definitely beat him.
By the way, how'd I do with the RBR? That was my first time doing it.

I don't think I took a single glance at the keyboard the whole time, I was transfixed, but I've since become accustomed to typing while my eyes are elsewhere. There was too much action to do a straight blow by blow, but I think managed to get the general gist of the fight across to you guys. Normally when I watch fights, I'm not near my computer, but I was watching at home tonight. Surprisingly, most of my friends aren't crazy boxing fans like me, but they would watch Pacquiao fights (I have a lot of Filipino friends). So I watched the fight by myself. Well worth it too, I gotta get my hands on a copy of this fight and rewatch it again. Odd, I pretty much tuned out Lampley, Steward, and Kellerman for the most part, since I was doing the RBR.
My scoring is a lot different from other people's scoring, but I tended to get more or less within ballpark of the official scores. The judges had Margarito ahead at the stoppage, two by scores of 96-94, while the other had it a 95-95 draw. ESPN.com had Cotto up by 96-94, I believe.

I do agree, a PBF/Margarito match does have the semblance of a JLC/PBF match but, I think PBF has became a little more smarter since then. I can't see PBF wearing down and he doesn't get tired. I think he will outpoint Margarito in a great fight where PBF will give away rounds but will make it known that he dominated the fight.
Cotto is a great Boxer, but nothing like PBF.
Margarito is a much better version of JLC though, so it will make a hell of a fight but PBF knows that, and that's probably one of the reasons he ducked him from the start.
Salvy, let me ask you this. Is Paul Williams the best WW or what? Obviously, only if he has his game face on, but do you really see any WW (including PBF) beating a focused Williams?

Margarito can most definitely beat Williams. Margarito started s-l-o-w in that first fight and let Williams build a big lead, but towards the end, Margarito started beating him around. The new and improved Margarito doesn't make that same mistake and makes Williams fight his fight longer and sooner. And that favors Margarito. Williams has crazy reach and punches a lot, which bothered Margarito in the first fight, but he never once had Margarito hurt. Quite frankly, Margarito is about the toughest son of a bitch in boxing. If he sneered at the power of Cotto and Cintron, Williams' power is nothing to worry about. Only the length and volume.
Seriously, there's no other fight that matters at 147 more than Margarito/Williams II, but with the promotional strife that exists between Bob Arum and Dan Goosen, it could be a while before they get back in the ring with one another.
Really, I don't care about Mayweather. He's retired. Fuck him. He'll never face Margarito or Williams, or even Cotto because Mayweather doesn't like hard fights. If you think Margarito was determined and hungry for Cotto, could you imagine how high his blood would be up for Mayweather? I'll guarantee you one thing, win or lose, Mayweather will certainly NOT be pretty afterwards. And all the money he makes will go straight to hospital bills while Margarito sits back afterwards with a bottle of Don Julio, listenin' to Chente with his heina, wondering when Mayweather ever hit him at all.

I should be neg'd for all the shit I Talked about margarito
gotta give respect where respect is deserved.. he is a great boxer, and did a great job last night.. I see why PBF has been hesitant to box him.. I agree with Salvy it could go like the JLC fight just with a different outcome..
and I agree with Harlem, right now in all fairness.. Paul Williams is your top WW.. personally I like Paul Williams and Mosley at the top of WW followed by Margarito and Cotto.. but Paul Williams is the man right now and in a rematch I dont see the outcome changing much.. Paul has such a reach advantage over everyone and is the slickest boxer in the division.
