Calzaghe says his Nov. 8 fight at Garden will be his last
CARDIFF, Wales -- Britain's Joe Calzaghe said on Thursday he will finish his 15-year boxing career after his light-heavyweight fight against American Roy Jones Jr. in November.
Calzaghe, who had indicated in April he would have one more fight, said in a news conference that the Nov. 8 bout at Madison Square Garden would indeed be the end of the road.
"It's a massive fight and it will be my last," said Calzaghe, 36. "I've known for a while when I want to go out and as long as I put on a great performance this is my time.
"If I can do that then I've achieved everything I've wanted to achieve in my career. I would never forgive myself if I came to my last fight and threw it all away. Complacency is not in my mindset.
"But I know in my heart this is the right time to stop and my aim is to remain undefeated."
| Sucks to see him retire. Hopefully he will go out on top.

I hope Jones beats on him, makes him look silly then knocks him out.

Roy Jones has the upper hand but i'll be cheering for Calzaghe.

It's good to see him retire on top, but he picked the wrong man to want to go out on top with. RJJ by dec.

This is not the Roy of old. I wish it were. Back in the day Roy would definitely take a win, but these days he's at a major disadvantage. Calzaghe is a much better fighter than Tarver and has better cardio.
Roy seemed to really drop of after his win at heavyweight. I'd love to see him win this fight but I don't see it happening.
Joe is going to retire and miss out on a potential showdown with Pavlik. Too bad as Calzaghe's camp made it clear that Kelly was the inferior fighter. By Joe retiring he is likely confirming that such a claim was simply bogus. I'll say this much, Joe looks like he is nowhere near retirement. Roy should be the one retiring, imo.
