Roy Jones Jr. utterly destroyed in 1st rd/Silva fight still on?

Roy Jones Jr. fought in Australia last night -- or, technically, today -- against 36-year-old Australian boxer Danny Green. It did not go well for Roy. Though Jones was a -350 favorite with oddsmakers, he got dropped early on in the first round and never really recovered. The old hand speed, the head that never stayed in one place long enough for opponents to even get a good look at it, all of that was gone as Green poured on the punishment for a first-round TKO victory. Said Green afterwards: "I almost felt bad doing that. It almost hurt me to do that to someone I look up to as a professional inside and outside the ring."

When they start talking about you like that, it's time to hang them up. Looks like that Anderson Silva fight would be a mismatch now after all, only not in the way some previously thought.

Crazy....I had no clue he was gonna fight over there. Wonder if he met up with my boy Emanuel Augustus who has moved to Aussieland to train and fight over there.

Still don't get why Silva was/is so intent on fighting Roy Jones? Maybe cause Jones doesn't hate MMA, or because he has his own promo company and has put together a handful of shows (usually out of Florida)

Sure, Silva wants to box, but why not a current boxer who is near the top. I was really surprised when he beat Jeff Lacy but Lacy has been on a downfall since losing to Jermain Taylor. Jones hasn't been right since his 3 losses in a row to Tarver, Glen Johnson and Tarver again.

Roy Jones hasn't been able to take a punch like he used to. I am sure he will bounce back and fight, Danny Green isn't a can (even though competition isn't the same down under) He had a war with Anthony Mundine who is also not a push over....just not well known at all to anyone who doesn't follow international boxing.

Green has some heavy hands RRJ doesnt have the speed he once did and he got hit by the. I think RRJ should have a easy fight win and hang up the gloves. also i think Anderson silva should face either Jean Pascal or Chad dawson.. I Know they arent names like Antonio Tarver or RRJ but they are more intresting fights. I hope now what RRJ is not a big name in the rankings Silva will decide to remain with the UFC where he belongs. OR RRJ comes over and tries MMA and joins with UFC.

No. As a longtime RJ fan I believe that he should have retired yeeears ago after he beat Ruiz. Or even after Jones-Tarver 1.

He should NOT continue on.

Remember Ali. Remember a LOT of legendary boxers getting destroyed into retirement.

We dont need another one. His best days are behind him; there is nothing more to prove.

Why can't he just let go? He's just continuing to embarrass himself.

Is he in money trouble?

RJJ has went downhill since he focused on endeavours like acting and "music", which made him considerably less then continuing to fight in his prime would have. He cut his own legacy short when it could have went from simply great to epic.

i hope this happens.
imagine the humiliation if anderson does the same thing he did to forrest?

i'm curious to hear what Dana will be saying about his loss now lol

When Glen Johnson decapitated him he should have stopped. But he went on and put some wins together.... in a row none the less....Then, Beating an over-the-hill Tito would have been a nice way to end it but he kept going on after that....Hopefully this beat down Green dropped on him encourage his "people" to guide him out of the competition aspect of boxing and into another sector.

Pull out of the Hopkins fight RJJ, it ain't going to be pretty...

But who knows, BHOP could get laid out tonight..Don't know anything about the guy he's fighting.....But no one knew shit about Green....I Doubt that B Hop loses tonight... but ya never know with these over the hill fighters.

This also ought to keep Spiders mind on MMA....Where it belongs.

any top SM-LHW would smash Anderson in boxing. Roy really hurt himself when he decided to lose all that muscle mass after the Ruiz fight.

That shot didn't look devastating, it was just the perfect punch. Roy is my all time favorite fighter, it pained me to see him go out like that. I know Hop still wants the fight with Roy.
