its like saying since people don't watch arena football then nobody watches football.
I said people watch UFC, but they don't watch the other MMA orgs. They don't watch the MMA events that come on Showtime as Dana White made a joke about a few months back. Nobody watched BoDog, nobody is really interested in StrikeForce it seems. MMA lives and dies through the UFC.

There have been many many good wresters out of college who never went into MMA. Look at Rulon Gardner. 1 fight in Pride and he was gone. Lesnar is lucky he has the HUGE backing of the WWE which made him a superstar. If he went into MMA instead of the WWE, he would NOT be anywhere near as popular as he is nor be getting paid as much as he is. You need to give 100% credit to Vince McMahon for making Lesnar a superstar. And there are millions of wrestling fans who followed over and bought Lesnar's UFC ppvs.

they can do stuff like this i guess to make it entertaining but they need some big fight with tons of hype in order to make them wanna watch and get the ball rolling again. these douches want to do as their told by the media basically and thats the only way they will flock to boxing.
Take GSP, Lesnar, and Anderson out of the UFC and the UFC will suffer greatly. A sport rides off star power! It's how it is and it's how it's always been. Tennis is in great shape because of the Federer/Nadal rivalry. Boxing was in good shape when Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis, Roy Jones, Trinidad, DLH, etc were all in their primes. Now they're all gone and nobody other than Pacman and Floyd have filled the void and even still they haven't really filled it. Where are the superstar heavyweight boxers? There are none.
Same thing could happen to the UFC. Take out the stars and the UFC will be in a real mess. You fail to understand the relevance of superstars in sports.

if mma was as big as it is now as it was ten years ago brock would be a legend of the sport by now because he seems like he loves to compete so i feel like if it was a viable option out of college he would have done it as opposed to the fake stuff.

I was thinking the same thing a few weeks ago. I don't know if it would save boxing but I'm sure it would make it better.

Might also depend on who was offering him the biggest paycheque. He was making more money with the WWE than he is current with the UFC. He gave up almost $30 million over 7 years with the WWE. And that's not even including merchandise sales.

Didn't realize Lewis was American ... kind of Canadian when it suited him, but don't think that counts.

One thing they should do is end the hugging. How many fights have I seen where one guy is winning so for the last few rounds throws a punch and then starts hugging his opponent waiting for the referee to split them up and then does the same thing again and again. They need to start taking points away as soon as they start hugging.
