I was never a boxing fan, always thought it was incredibly boring and 1 dimensional. I fell in love with MMA because it was similar to wrestling and then i fell in love with BJJ. However, since I have been watching MMA, i have actually started to really enjoy the technical side of boxing and i appreciate it a lot more. I still think its 1 dimensional, but I have learned to respect the level of depth people have in that 1 dimension.

So I'm not a "true" MMA fan because I don't follow professional boxing? My fault, I keep forgetting to not read your posts.

Love boxing still watching all the great fights next to my grandfather was great. It was a pleasure to watch a Prime RJJ, De la hoya, and others my fav fight is the Morales Pacquiao 1. Im a die hard MMA fan but boxing will always be 1 for me I rather see the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight than a UFC super card

I've considered MMA but before I even try to dive into that I would have to do some serious ground game training (wrestling, BJJ) right now I have zero grappling experience and I don't want to go out there and look like Dan Hardy.

Ya, im in the same boat. Have a basic understanding of the ground game, but need to improve.

Its never too late to get into it.

Lol this is what im thinking. What does being a "true" mma fan have to do with it? Not a true Boxing fan makes more sense.

I dont mind watching some epic fights, and have respect for the fighters. But Ive never followed it for a second, so I guess im not a true MMA fan? lol

But yet ive watched countless Judo tournaments, multiple ADCC events, EVERY single Pride event, and about 90% of the UFC events. Including all the Strikeforce, Affliction, Bodog, Elite XC, IFL, TKO, Bellator and KOTC you can handle...Yeah I know what kind of a fan I am.. lol Obsessed.

(And Ive trained both boxing and JJ for a bit)

Ill have to DL the fight tho and give er a look.

I think some folks took my words a bit too literally. Of course you don't have to "love" boxing as a sport. But what fight fan doesn't love a great fight? Be it Muai Tai, Boxing, MMA, hell even full contact karate. If you have a good back and forth with lots of drama and action, then you forget about what a sport lacks in one or two areas. It's all about the passion of the the fight. Maybe I got a bit worked up after watching that fight, but damn......don't get all bent out of shape. If you don't like boxing, I guess you can still be a "true MMA fan"....
