Anyone watch boxing this weekend?

First Amir Khan vs Paul McClosky this was an ok fight with an early stoppage in my opinion. I honestly don't know what McClosky was thinking he didn't protest the stoppage at all. I don't know if he thought he was ahead on the score cards or what, but with the lack of punches he was throwing I don't understand how he could have thought he was ahead. With the win it sets up Khan vs Bradley. I think Bradley wins the fight with Khan pretty easily. Khan has nice hand speed but there is no power behind his shots.

On to

Andre Berto vs Victor Ortiz. This fight was an absolute slugfest. Ortiz caught Berto twice in the first and from that point on it went from being a boxing match to a slugfest which more suited Ortiz. I think Berto could have easily outboxed Ortiz but after getting hurt and put down boxing went out the window for him. Round 6 was outstanding Berto knocked Ortiz down with a beautiful straight right but right before the bell Ortiz came back with a perfectly timed left hook of his own and floored Berto.

Ortiz went on to win a UD. I would love to see a rematch. I do think its a good thing Berto cancelled his fight with Shane because I think Shane would have ruined him.

I watched the Berto Ortiz fight last night and I thought it was pretty sweet, Ortiz was lookin sharp and wasn't slowing down much. It pissed me the ref wouldn't let them work inside at all, much too large of a portion of the fight was spent with the ref stepping between and seperating them.

Alot of the ref stoppages I understood because Ortiz when working inside would lead with his head, pushing his head into the chin of Berto. He was warned several times to watch his head.

True. It seems like some refs aren't as strict though.

I agree. Thank God HBO decided to give me a free weekend preview and I got to watch the Berto Ortiz fight...really good solid fight with tons of great back and forth action...It would be nice if they do a rematch down the line.
