| UFC vet Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson makes pro-boxing debut on Aug. 13
UFC vet Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson makes pro-boxing debut on Aug. 13 Quote:
Former EliteXC headliner and UFC veteran Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson will make his pro-boxing debut on Aug. 13, officials today announced.
He'll headline a four-round main event at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Okla.
Neither an opponent nor broadcast details have not been announced for the show, which Gary Shaw Productions and Tony Holden Promotions is producing.
"Even in his losses, 'Kimbo' brought a level of excitement that few fighters can generate," Shaw stated. "He is a genuine personality with unbelievable strength and character, and we're excited about his prospects in boxing.
"The minute he steps in the ring, he'll be one of the most recognizable and talked-about fighters in the sport, and his fans around the world will once again feel the excitement."

Jesus... Gary Shaws quotes makes my head turn inside out. Quote:

| Anybody else know what he's talking about?...
EDIT: Oh yeah! How could I forget?! His fight with Houston Alexander was one of the most memorable MMA fights ever to exist and don't forget his very sad but brutally glorious losses to Roy Nelson, Matt Mitrione and Seth Petruzelli. Any mope knows what an exciting star Kimbo Slice will always be...
in Gary Shaw's fantasies.

I will always like Mitrione because he retired this can from MMA.
In boxing he will do much better, he won´t worry about kicks and about ground game.
He would obvioulsy get killed by any Top boxer, but they feed him weak fighters so Kimbo beats them and Shaw can hype him as the big deal.
BTW, only 4 rounds???? LOL, I think it is a bit embarrasing to consider yourself a pro boxer and only fight for 4 rounds. It is like someone makes pro debut in MMA and will fight for only 1 round.

| Promoter Says Kimbo Slice Has a Mean Streak That America Hasn’t Seen Since Mike Tyson
Promoter Says Kimbo Slice Has a Mean Streak That America Hasn’t Seen Since Mike Tyson Quote: |
Under Gary Shaw Productions and Tony Holden Promotions, Slice will make his professional debut in a four-round main event fight at the Buffalo Run Casino.
| Quote:
“As I was last speaking to you guys when I was positioning Ray Edwards, I had known that Kimbo’s interest level had gone up back into boxing. What we didn’t tell anyone is that he had always continued training, not full-time training for a fight, but over the year he was training the intricacies and the nuances of the fight game and of the boxing game,” Jared Shaw, promotional advisor to Team Kimbo Slice, told MMAWeekly.com on Wednesday.
Slice will make his boxing debut, and Shaw, who also worked with the fighter during his time as a mixed martial artist when he was under the EliteXC banner, believes he has a big future in the sport as a heavyweight.
“I think Kimbo Slice has a load of potential. Obviously, he’s no spring chicken, but he is a hungry, hungry fighter with a mean streak that America hasn’t seen since Mike Tyson,” Shaw stated.
“The reality is this man wants his bread, and everybody who stands across from him in the ring, is in the way of the Kimbo Slice express.”
While no opponent has been named as of yet, the event will go down on Aug. 13 and ticket sales for the event begin July 5.

Every Boxer that makes their debut(and why the fuck is that word spelled that way when it doesnt sound anywhere near that spelling?) fights 4 rounds until they build up their record. Most likely for money reasons. Who the hell wants to go 10 rounds for shit money?
On another note. Most of yall are haters. Kimbo is just trying to make a living and he loves fighting. He made the best promo any unknown fighter ever did and it paid off for him. Yall should be congradulating him.

I should congratulate that can for what? For beating up 5 or 6 bums in the streets and then suddenly receive hundreds of thousands undeserved dollars in Elite XC?
I should congratulate him because he failed in TUF and still received the chance to fight in the main card of a PPV despite that he had already showed that he is very limited? I should congratulate him because he failed in UFC?
Now I should congratulate him because some dumbass is comparing him with Mike Tyson???? hahahahahahaha.
He wants to make a living and loves to fight, it is all right, but he is a mediocre fighter and should be fighting in mediocre promotions. Instead he fought in the biggest MMA promotion.
He never deserved all the attention he has received. While hundreds of other fighters with legit skills (that would beat Kimbo) are fighting in very small promotions for very little money hoping that one day maybe someone will notice them, Kimbo destroyed 5 or 6 bums in the street and Voila!! That was all he needed to became one of the most popular faces in MMA. Lame!!!!
