Jim Lampley crying during Countdown to Mosley/Vargas II

Does anyone know the back story to why Lamley got all choked up when he started talking about Vargas' bad upbringing?

I seen that too on the Mosley/Vargas II pre-show special on HBO. It was only for a moment, and they cut to something else before he really got emotional. Who knows. I'm sure Cruz knows Vargas' back-story, if there is one. Maybe it's tear-jerker.

Vargas is from the next city over from me. He grew up in the La Colonia neighborhood in Oxnard. It's pretty rough over there, but not as bad as some neighborhoods in LA. I don't know about his family history which may be what Lampley was referring to.
