It's a perfect move on Zuffa's part. Think about it, no one in the states knows who in the hell Filho is. The UFC middleweight division is staked with stars right now. The WEC is on network television so American fans can get to know Filho and when he picks up a few victorys they will bring him to the UFC.

Its not a fuckin "America doesnt know who he is" situation. I think Lethal is dead on about this one.

However, I doubt this is their plan with Filho... I don't mind watching him fight, but some people would fall asleep watching his highlight reel, if you get my meaning. He is going to be a hard sell in North America.

I agree with Smoogy, Filho is a great fighter (I have him at #2 MW) but he isn't really a main event attraction. The casual fan isn't going to be wanting to buy a PPV because Paulo Filho is on it.

Why the hell is he wasting his time in WEC? I'd think he'd wanna fight better competition or make more money fighting in UFC. I don't understand this move.

| not that shocking
The WEC doesn't have alota big name fighters imo. Other than Faber, and the occasional cameo appearance by other experienced vets. If we stop thinking of a fighter as a pride, ufc, or wec guy and view them all as "Zuffa Guys", then the bigger picture comes into view. I think there will be an active rotation of top guys (in terms of both talent and popularity) in all three promotions. This will bolster the reputations and viewership of everyone in the Zuffa empire.

I guess you don't have to believe it if you don't want, but his management has no reason to lie. | And, Franklin is a gamer. I don't think he'd turn down a fight with anyone.

What if a couple other top-flight competitors made their way over to WEC as well? Suddenly, that gives Zuffa the option of holding two-three good PPV events each month. I hate to say it, but that's bank for them and that is what this is all about in the end.
