WFA looks to be losing the main event

The Bas Rutten vs. Kimo fight has been pulled off the books by most of the leading MMA oddsmakers and is believed to be off. At this point, no announcement has been made by WFA.

It is believed Kimo will not be allowed to fight. The reasons have also not been released and whether or not there will be a substitute opponent for Bas Rutten also has yet to be made clear. There are unconfirmed reports of a Rutten vs. Wes Sims replacement match. Rutten would be giving up an incredible amount of size and youth, but then again, Sims would be giving up an incredible amount of talent.

Kimo did fail a steroid test in Nevada after his fight with Ken Shamrock, which he lost. He would likely have to test clean to be licensed to fight in California.

Y'know...I hope he does fight Sims and I hope he leaves him laying in a bloody heap.

If Bas Rutten is off this card, I'm not ordering the PPV. And that's not meant to be a negative remark towards WFA as I don't even know who's fault this is, but Bas Rutten was the "over the edge" reason I decided I was going to be buying this show. Without his fight, it's just a decent fight card I can wait to download online two seconds after it ends.

uhhg I hope this is untrue because I was so excited for this pay per view. Although for me the Lindland fight is my reason, but I love Bas and with one less top fight this pay per view will take a real hit.

Bas was my reason to buy as I said, and I'm pretty sure this is true. I've caught wind of the same thing Meltzer reported elsewhere. Wes Sims filling in is a possibility, and honestly at this point I don't care who Bas fights as long as he still fights. Ever since getting back into the sport in late 2001 I've been wanting to see Bas fight. During my WZR run only two people I could call regulars, maybe even friends - Bas Rutten and Chuck Liddell. This was around the time, not too long after, Bas was calling out Rickson Gracie. So there was talk of his return. This time, this weekend was supposed to be the real deal. Now, no? Boo.
