ive trained boxing for 2-3 years, wrestled in school, and have been gracie bjj for 4 months love it all only been in street fights but looking to start competing within next year or so

Grappling & boxing competition here. I coach & compete so I get the best of both worlds. I have trained wtih a bunch of people from a bunch of styles. I don't care what it is as long as I can learn something from it. That's what MMA is all about to me.

I just ran into my old trainer at a Punkrock show the other day, havent seen him for years. Found out he was in the first ever Abu Dhabi comp. Ithought that was cool. Plus I also found out that when in Desert storm he fractured his spine a little on a parashute jump landing on concreate. Well the really good army Docs never saw it. So when He came back here and started fighting he was fighting the whole time with a messed up back. The pain got so bad when he was training someone that he went to a specialist and they found fractures in two diffrent parts of his spine... Now he has pins in both.

i spent 3 years training kung fu (hung fa yi wing chun), got my black belt, and realized i still can't do a damn thing. it was a good experience, i learned aspects of the game, in terms of strategy and analysis, but they never gave me the tools and training it takes to really be able to fight in 3 years of training, so that's pretty much bullshit.

so now i just started at AZ Combat (where Joe Riggs got his start) and it seems like a pretty cool place. my first BJJ class is tonight, and i'm psyched.

yeah i'm pretty sure i saw Fickett there yesterday during my first class

he was rolling with one of the other guys, and he was talking about fighting at the August show or something with the standup coach
