Default Thoughts on UFC 72 (No spoilers)

I looked through the first 3 pages of posts and didnt see any threads on overall thoughts... So here are my questions for the Forum. What are your overall thoughts on UFC 72? Were the matches better than expected? Were you entertained? Did you find it a waste of money and or bandwith (Thanks again Noob for streaming it).

My thoughts are that I enjoyed it. I thought the first three fights on the card were good matches. It was better than I expected it to be overall and I must say that I am REALLY starting to like the LW division alot. For me the bandwith i used was well worth it, and if I had a few friends around that wanted to watch the even I would of happily spent the money on it. Some of the fights (Tyson-Guida) could probable be up there for fight of the year.

Discuss away!

I really enjoyed the crowd cheering for Forrest like that. I think it's the first time I've ever seen a crowd that pumped up for a fighter, it made me glad. The fights were okay, nothing more nor less, they were okay. All in all a pretty okay ufc. But I have relly higher expectations on next UFC; Stacked. That should be ridiculously good, at least on paper.

Edit: Oh yeah, I have to agree on how the LW-division is getting really good and exciting.

LIVE Notes from PPV ( I WAS THERE)

Rampage Interview was TAPED during break between 2 of prelim fights.

1st fight was due to start at 6pm (irish time) but only started at 6:30

The cheering for Forrest was AMAZING!!

Tyson Griffin V Guida- Match Of The Night

Randy Couture posed for photos and signed autographs after the event beside the Octagon.

Ramirez had LITTLE or NO SUPPORT!

Bisping, Rampage, Dana White, Bruce Buffer seemed to be very friendly with fans at Octagon-side

Was Franklin/Okami as bad as it looked to some in the arena??

Strange Note but anyway...the poster for sale on the UFC store WAS NOT the same as the one being sold last night..which was mostly red and not green.

Approx $100 for a signed poster and $15 for an unsigned

Welcome to the boards Hender!

I thought UFC 72 was as good as or slightly better than it was anticipated to be. It was anticipated on paper to be pretty bad and I thought it turned out to be a decent card. Not great, not awful, but decent.

When we keep in mind that the UFC wanted this one to be for free on Spike, I can forgive the relative weakness of the card - truly it was supposed to be a glorified Fight Night Live rather than a true PPV, and the card reflected it.

All in all, major-org (Pride, UFC, WEC) MMA events are like pizza - even when bad, they are still pretty good.
