Broken rib too right? Yeah, that's quite the combo to endure when coming back with 7 years rust on ya. All things considered, if he wouldn't of said anything I would never have known. I might have if he never threw the leg kicks, but he ended up throwing them anyway. I would have wondered why he didn't do the jumping splits afterwards though, so maybe not.

It was two months from fruititon untill Pride dropped the fighting purse in half. Then Bas said fuck it
His exact words were "If your going to fight a guy like that, you better at least be able to buy your family a house afterwards".
Wise words.

Bas wouldn't get killed just because he's getting up there in age and hasn't been active in a while. He's a legendary striker, and his skills are still there. If Vanderlei went at him in berzerker mode like he does everyone else he fights, I'm not sure who would win. I'd obviously pick Vanderlei before-hand, but I would not be shocked if Bas pulled it off. Bas always said his style was the absolute perfect style for Vanderlei, and Bas knows the sport inside and out. I'd love to see that fight. But anyways, that fight won't happen so it's a non-issue.

I agree. Under Pancrase rules Bas couldn't even punch, had big fucking pads on his shins. It was mainly a grappling organization then, and at the time Shamrock was ahead of the grappling curve in actual "NHB" or "MMA" rules fights. Now he's just another Average Joe at best and Bas might have even surpassed him in submission knowledge.

No-no not in the fight. These were all injuries he had going into the fight.
