Joe Riggs vs. Jason Von Flue

According to MMAWeekly rumors page, Riggs vs. Von Flue will be going down at Ultimate Fight Night 6 on August 17.

Riggs should be able to beat Von Flue fairly easy IMO.

i dunno abouyt that.joes been getting his ass handed to him lately by submissions.

LethalStriker 07-24-2006 06:55 AM

But Von Flue isn't overally skilled at subs. I am not sayng Riggs is a world title contender by any means, but he is more skilled then Von Flue. Other then that odd submission that Von Flue finished Karalexis with, I haven't seen him try that many subs. There is no way Von Flue will beat Riggs on the feet.

joes stand-up is excellent but im just wondering how many losses does it take to lose your confidence?? im rooting for the diesel all the way.well see what happens.

I think Riggs is becoming the new gatekeeper at 170. If you are good enough to get through him we'll let you start trying to move up and if not you need to go build yourself in other orgs for a bit.

Interesting observation, though I'm not sure if there was an old gatekeeper. Every weight class should have one.

Riggs annoys me. He couldnt even make weight for a title shot. If this fight happens, it would seem like the UFC is feeding him a fighter so they wouldnt have to toss him after losing 2 straight.

Nick Diaz was sort of like the old gatekeeper. They had him fight Lawler right before Lawler got a shot at the MW title, they had him fight Sherk and now Sherk is dropping to LW to get a title shot, they had him fight Riggs right before Riggs fought Swick in fight that had a lot on the line as far as the open wide UFC MW division, they had him fight Karo and after that Karo was the #1 contender.Diaz was a good gatekeeper.

I'd take Riggs in this fight. I like him as the new gatekeeper at 170

this is a very intriguing match up.
