Default MMA vs Boxing Article...DUMB!!

You have to read to believe, it gets dumber by the paragraph. I wrote my kind words to him and destroyed his article. His email is at the bottom of the article. This link is on Maxboxing's homepage which is the biggest boxing website out there that isn't a major tv network like HBO or an actual promotion site. Email this guy after reading it and destroy him with the knowledge he clearly lacks!

Good grief....

I would reply straight away to that BS, only problem is that it would take several hours to pick apart because just about every single sentence is riddled with flaws.

I could have a field day with that, and I might do so tonight if I find a few free hours...

Just out of interest, is there a better channel for objections that simply emailing a (clearly purposefuly) ignorant writer who has no interest in facts? If we can publicise his idiocy it may make him more likely to respond.

git.

You know, I can't believe I got mad at this article.

I read it & kept thinking, "What the fuck are you talking about?" over & over.

However I decided not to e-mail him cos he seems to be one of those guys that think no matter what boxing will bury mma (not UFC as he puts it) & there are plenty of guys who watch mma & think the opposite.

I get frustrated cos neither are true. Boxing will thrive alongside mma, they are not the same sports!

Fuck it, I'm sending him a message!

Part of what makes boxing so great is that it has its roots planted in countries all over the world. Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, and so many other countries all have strong amateur programs that produce some of today’s top professionals, and these roots are planted so deep, that the sport will be forever kept alive. The same certainly cannot be said of the UFC.
Oh yea because all the fighters in the UFC are from the U.S...

Quote:
That doesn’t sound like the greatest money maker in the world. Plus, opening a UFC gym in a country with deep boxing roots would be like trying to introduce cricket to a baseball oriented country---it’s just not going to happen.
I guess he doesnt realize that boxing is part of MMA? And that many of the things you'd find in a boxing gym, you'll find in MMA training centers?...well all the things and a whole lot more.

Quote:
They’ll keep seeing the same fights over and over again and look for more, until they’ll realize that the lower level fights are quite boring as the fighters aren’t nearly as skilled as the big names (and believe me, nothing is more boring than watching two inexperienced UFC fighters wrestle on the ground for fifteen minutes).
Watching a long boring MMA fight for 15 min. is better than suffering through a long 12 (36 min plus rest time) round boxing match. Of course the "low level" fighters arent boring but honestly, every MMA fight you see isnt going to be the most exciting...but it wont be a long as a boxing match.

Quote:
There is so much more to boxing that people can appreciate. When Cory Spinks is dancing circles around Roman Karmazin, a twenty year old girl who has never seen the sport in her life can understand at he’s doing, but when Royce Gracie is working his magic on the UFC floor, people have no idea what’s going on. A lot of times, they don’t even understand why fights are stopped!
More to appreicate with boxing? Two guys, with gloves trying to hit the others head or body. And the fans know what Gracie is doing on the ground. I guess he just doesnt understand, but he will in 10 years.

Quote:
But soon, fans will realize that despite its beauty, the UFC is just a Paris Hilton type with little substance, and they’ll return to the girl that has too much depth to ever be replaced.
I think he's confused boxing with MMA. I use to watch boxing from time to time but lost interest in it long before I began following MMA. And this isnt a knock against people who like boxing...but if a boxing fan thinks there more depth in a boxer than a MMA fighter, then they've probably taken one too many shots to the head.

The fact that boxing has become a totaly boring sport with no real heros and no real direction is the only real threat to boxing. People just happen to be finding MMA thanks to the attention of main stream cable networks like Spike TV, Fox Sports and to a lesser extent ESPN and are finding out the joys of this sport.

Everyone should email this jackass one criticism about his article. I already did. Do you think he has ever watched MMA?
