hey guys this is my first post... I am curious if anyone knows if Herb has a open contract, or a contract at all. He usually refs ufc, but I seen him on WFA this weekend. Now, while I would love to not see him in the UFC any longer, I really wasnt hoping to see him with WFA either.
what do you guys think?

I think you're a shammy fan that needs to move on with his life.

there is no such thing as a "UFC Ref" UFC uses refs that are sanctioned by the State Athletic Commission, as do every other promotion in the US. I don't mind Herb Dean at all. He's one of the best and most active refs in the US. All refs will make decisions that people don't agree with. There are much worse refs than Herb Dean, and not many that are better.

Ouch! Obviously everyone has their trunks in a twist since the Tito/Shamrock fight. I've seen the fight a couple of times and there is no doubt in my mind that if the fight would have lasted 5 more seconds Ken would have been out cold or cut really badly. Was Herb Dean too cautious? Yes. Is he a bad ref? I don’t think so.

That being said... other than Big John's "Let's get it on!" I don't even want to notice a ref is in there with the fighters.

look at the ufc fights that end in controversy and they all feature Herb Dean..the only good decision he ever made was when he called the Frank Mir/Tim Sylvia fight stoppage which was exellent other than that please please get him out of ucf

I agree with doublea and am just happy that it's over. I have sold my soul to the devil in exchange for NOT giving us Ortiz/Shammy 3. Please don't let my sacrifice be in vain. I can't take another 3-4 months of recaps of Ortiz/Mezger/Shamrock history.

name some better refs than Herb Dean. I know you'll say Big John McCarthey because that's an obvious choice. Other than that who?

I knew this would be a controversial topic and that is exactly why I started it.
I like both Ortiz and Shamrock. I do not have a favorite fighter, out of all the fighters. I would say I support more Team Quest fighters, only because I live 5 minutes from there.
The reason I ask is because this is the second UFC fight I have seen him stop a little early in the past three UFC PPV. Now remember this is my opinon, and I am sure a lot will disagree.
I just believe that as a viewer i need to get what I pay for. I have been disappointed in the last three PPV. I want more action! but at the same time it is important to protect the fighters.

thank you for clearing that up for me. I dont know why I didnt think of that, I guess i felt anyone associated with UFC had a contract. My bad!

Second? I assume you're referring to the A.A/Timmah fight? If so, it doesnt take a genius to know that laying on your stomach with your hand over your cheek is not an intelligent defense. Just as laying on your back eating elbows isnt an intelligent defense. Common theme? Dont use your head for defense.

he just sole my post before i could type it. herb thinks cause he saved tim's arm that its all about the early stopage,
