In the ufc right now only two maybe three fighters would be favored in a fight with franklin at 205. Liddel, Babalu and ortiz. Liddell is the only one of those i would put money on. That being said there is noone that can beat franklin at 185. So lets think about this for a minute. Stay at 185 be a champ get crazy endorsement deals or fight at 205 be a top contender and hope for an endorsement. Not only is it a choice where to fight but it is also a business decision. Franklin has made the best BUSINESS decision.

As for Bisping i hope he stays at 205 because he can still put on some weight and muscle mass. Get some more power behind his punches and fight where he is comfortable and where he has already won a title (cage rage). And where he will compete for a title within the next two years when Chuck retires.

To do otherwise is stupid and has nothing to do with being ballsy. If bisping wants to stay at 205 he has to deal with larger guys taking him down and must improve ground defense. If he drops down to 185 hes gonna have quicker guys striking at him and must get better at trading and his own take downs. Either desicion does not reflect on his manhood, its what is best for him as a fighter.
Agreed

I too would like to see the weigh in on the day of the fight , but that isn't going to happen.
I might be a little naive, but does Franklin or anyone else for that matter, actually put on 20-25 pounds over night? I lnow they gain weight back, but is it actually that much??

yea they really do. as soon as they get that water back they turn into a huge container. after a long cut your body stores everything it can. its not necessarily twenty five pounds of muscle or fat. its mostly water

If you make the weigh-ins on the day of the fight, the quality of the fighters performance will suffer greatly. By giving them time to recover they come in hydrated and with some energy.

If your cutting a lot of weight it is really hard to turn around and give a top performace with same day weigh-ins.

Actually it would force the fighters to maintain their weight throughout their training instead of dehydrating themselves for a day or 2 to make weight, only to put it back on before the fight.
