| Mike Bisping- should he cut weight to fight at 185?
Mike Bisping is one of my favorite fighters.- Not based solely on his performance on TUF. I have watched several of his fights from cage rage and I beleive he should of been invited straight to Pride or UFC w/out having to go through the whole TUF b/s. It sure did get his name out there to the general MMA fans quick though. I think Bisping could make 185 if he truly wanted to. I think it suits him best. I just do not see him being able to handle GNP (or LNP) from the big LHW's like Tito Ortiz,Rashad Evans, etc. Don't get me wrong he is far more skilled around the board than a Rashad but the size differential is enormous. Rich Franklin probably walks around at a higher weight than Bisping, and with proper guidance he never has had a problem making 185. I say if Bisping would cut to 185 he would be could be top a top 5 guy right away. At 205 it is going to be a much harder time attaining the belt. Guys like Liddell, Sobral,Ortiz, and even Evans I believe could have their way with Mike B. I mean if Brandon Lee Hinkle can cut to 205, Bisping can make 185. I say get down to 185 have about 3 straight wins and he could have a title shot at either Franklin(or A. Silva). Either match would be exciting and highly competitive. Just my 2 cents. Thoughts??????????

Totally agree. Franklin is a big middleweight, so he must cut weight to make 185.
I think Bisping willl be in the shadows for a while at 205 & if they rush him in against the likes of Griffin, Babalu, Swick he'll be in trouble.
But then I thought the same thing when Lennox Lewis took on Razor Ruddock, so who knows. Sink or swim?

I like forrest a lot, but so fare it looks like if they threw bisping in with him it would be a very competitive fight. I think bisping looks to be a way more polished all around fighter. Although his competition on TUF was minimal.

He should stay at 205 where's the less competitions.Plus him cutting weight would be difficult.

He's got the height, and he definitely has the skills to compete at 205. And for once it's nice to actually see a true 205 fighter compete instead of fighters like Franklin who drop down to bully a lighter weight class.

It would be interesting to see what he could do in the stacked MW division. I'd prefer to see him get some wins as a LHW.

Yeah, I agree, Middleweight has way more depth right now than does LHWT. It doesn't make sense for a big guy like Bisping to cut all that weight, not eating and dehydrating yourself before competing is really taxing mentally and physically. Besides, there is not that many 205's out there that he wouldn't have a chance at beating. Besides Liddell or Wandy, i think he could go with just about anybody.

He's a true 205er (which makes him a small LHW). He could cut 20 pounds before a fight and do the same thing that Franklin does (if he wanted to drop down). It's amusing really; both Bisping and Franklin walk around at around the same weight but only one has the balls to fight in their proper weight class.

I fail to see how competing at a high weight class takes "balls". its smart fighting to compete at the weight class you feel you will do better at. Thats like saying if Babalu doesn't stand and trade with Liddell he's a pussy. A real man throws and fights. Thats crap. These guys fight with styles at the weights that are most beneficial for them. To do otherwise is stupid and has nothing to do with being ballsy. If bisping wants to stay at 205 he has to deal with larger guys taking him down and must improve ground defense. If he drops down to 185 hes gonna have quicker guys striking at him and must get better at trading and his own take downs. Either desicion does not reflect on his manhood, its what is best for him as a fighter.
