Tyson was never a great boxer, much more of a fighter then boxer but he had the fundamentals down and perfected he just wasnt that good at it.. he was a KO puncher with short reach but still, he could read punches, find openings, and capatilize on them.. sure he wasn the typical jab boxer that throws combos, and outboxers there opponent but Tyson still want a lot of fights at what he does best and thats knockin' people out.. he would of lost a LOT more fights then he has if he was completely dumb to boxing.. I feel Tyson is overrated but he wasnt a terrible boxer.

I see boxers in two categories; those that box and those that fight. A fighter that boxes goes in with a technical strategy that consists of more than just trying to land the haymakers. They work on their footwork, their combos, pacing themselves and actually knowing what they want to do in the entire fight (not just a round). A fighter who just fights is just looking for that one punch. They fight from round to round with only one round in their mind instead of thinking about the entire fight (because to them the entire fight is one round, and if they dont win the fight in that round, they think they'll win in the next round). Tyson was a fighter or brawler if you want to call it that. When he tried to make his come back, the sport had progressed past his "arena of skills" and he got frustrated (and ears suffered )

I agree with what your sayin but
I wouldnt call a fighter just that, there were a lot of fighters in boxing that werent that bad.. Tyson being one of them
then there were these brawlers who made a name for themselves for whatever reason like Butterbean who were awful boxers, there are boxers in boxing who dont care for the rhythm of the sport and just try to KO there opponent, TKO there opponent, or win by most damage and its not necessarily a bad strategy, but you come to find out that boxing is the better choice. You got different kinds of boxers too like finese boxers, etc.

I believe that if you compared various demographics(ie. education, other professional career choices...etc) between boxers and MMA fighters, boxers would be (on average) on bottom. Just out of curiousity, are there any boxers who even have a college education (not trying to be insulting; I'm honestly curious if there are any)?

Boxers read out there opponents, try to figure out patterns they do and pick them apart, they time there punches, they have to react as fast as the mind can react.. its no sport for idiots man ive played football and boxing, and ill tell you this right now you can play football with only half your brain cells... boxing you'd get killed, thus why the greatest boxer of all time was also the smartest boxer of all time.. Muhammad Ali.
