| mma V boxing debate
Did anyone hear the CFZ radio show? I am curious how bad Luis made the boxing "intellect" look in their debate.

I don't know how bad he actually got "torn apart." It was actually a very good debate (I'd actually give the edge to the writer at the beggining), but they couldn't seem to agree on the point of whether casual fans would want to learn about the complexities of mma. From there, the other two radio show hosts jumped in and turned the debate into a mma is better than boxing debate. The debate really strayed off topic, further and further with the three hosts trying to joke their way out of trouble, but neither side could really get an advantage over the other. At the end, Cruz asked the writer to come on the show in ten years and apoligize and the writer replied by saying that he'd come on the show in ten years and boast how he was right...all in all though, you didn't miss much.

I missed it and I'm looking forward to hearing a recording. Quote: |

I hope that point wasn't laboured over for too long because (a) it it irelevant and (b) the answer is maybe, maybe not. A good response could have been something like 'Do casual boxing fans know boxing's complexities? Let's move on then.' Quote: |

Luis will agree, I'm sure. A one on one debate was the intention, and from the perspective of both boxing and mma being great sports. If two others jumped in and bashed boxing instead of the article/author, then it will look bad especially to boxing fans on two counts:
- 3 on 1 is not fair.
- it is hypocritical to defend mma from attack with an attack on boxing. Quote: |

Luis had planned to keep the debate firmly on the 'your article is full of crap' tracks - I guess it got knocked off then. Shit. Quote: |

I sincerely hope your interpretation of the debate is way off, icecream - I am a pessimist though, so I had the feeling this guy might be very good at debate.
git.

Nope - hopefuly soon though because I was expecting it to go quite differently to your account, and I wanna hear for myself what (if anything) went wrong.

Even though the guy kept on getting shot down on what the casual fan is looking for he still went ahead with his ridiculous claims. He asked a handful of guys from a hardore boxing fans website their opinion on UFC, wow did he actually think that he was getting the average fan on the streets opinion?

I wanna be honest, I enjoy both but I cant help but like Boxing a lot more thats just me but im not gonna deny the growing popularity of MAA
I just wish that the average MMA fan would stop saying that a boxer would get his ass kicked by an MMA fighter in an MMA venue cuz its a contradicting argument, an MMA fighter would get his ass kicked in a boxing ring as well! thats like saying that a football player would get beat in basketball.

a good debate?? lol that guy kept backtracking on shit he was saying and i was calling him on it. right from the door he turned it around and said he wasn't talking about all of mma just the ufc. he compared it to paris hilton with some retarted ass analogy, i kept trying to cut seth off because this was suppose to be mainly myself and this guy. the laughing was us laughing at his ridiculous claims, i'm starting to think you are actually that guy icecream. lol and if you feel you're assessment is right give details on the show and what you thought he said that was right and what i didn't counter.

well, i just read the article, and he's right, he didn't mention mma once..he only mentioned ufc, and after reading the article, it didn't seem like he changed any points....it just seemed to me that since cruz couldn't put him away, the other two guys jumped in. That's all I observed, I'm not trying to start any trouble.
