Mark Coleman to return to UFC (opponent revealed)

From www.FightOpinion.com

UFC’s latest acquisition, Mario Sukata, is set to face the returning former UFC Heavyweight Champion, Mark Coleman, in September (according to Sukata’s teammates).

A Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Vale Tudo fighter, the much-admired Sukata had postponed his own fighting career in his adopted English homeland, to concentrate on his role as head coach of Cage Warriors’ Pro Fight Team, the Wolfslair Gym, home to TUF3 Light Heavyweight Champion Michael “The Count” Bisping.

The Brazilian who has reportedly signed a three-fight deal boasts an impressive resume, holding victories over UFC veterans Gary Goodridge, Travis Fulton and Ultimate Fighter 2 alumni Seth Petruzelli.

Meanwhile, 42-year old Coleman, who become the first UFC Heavyweight Champion at UFC 12, has been competing for PRIDE FC since 1999 and has amassed a 9-4-0 record.

The former Olympian will look to his protégé and Hammer House teammate Kevin Randleman for insight into Sukata’s game having defeated the South American heavyweight in his native Brazil at Universal Vale Tudo Fighting 6.

No kidding! I watch his fights and come away feeling like I got a steroid injection by proxy. That guy is massive.

I can honestly say i hope he gets kicked in the face and KTFO again. Besides he makes the best faces when he gets knocked out. lol

Yeah he is a juicer, still, the man is 42 years old, you must still respect what he has done for the sport and how dominant a champion he was in UFC at 250lbs! He had crutal headbutts and uppercuts, I liked watching his old fights, same with Mark Kerr it was just a shame his girlfreind was a controlling bitch and he was on those pain killers which always made him gas in his fights ifthey went more than a round to a round and a half.

I can't hate him just for his ignorant remarks and put yourself in his position, he was 42 years old, he was fighting Shougun, no one gave him a chance, he was a former UFC HW champion (and a dominating one at that) and the Pride 2000GP champion so in his position, he has all of these accomplishments and everyone is talking shit about him claiming he is going to get KTFO blah blah and he comes away with the victory.

A fight ensued, Silva is a rager also and both camps are ragers as well so tempers flared. Afterwards they were all still pissed and during the post fight conference where Coleman was rambling that silly shit about betting on himself and saying "I did that shit to him" when refferring to the arm of Shougun's.

Yes his training camp is one dimensional and Randleman would have a Silva like status (possibly better) if he would swicth to one of the top camps but Coleman has really sone a lot for the sport so I can't bash him and show a lack of respect.

He was the inventor of GNP, so what he is juicing, I would say 95% of the fighters are especially in Pride as they do not test for it so why wouldn't someone use it? Any sport that roids gives such a distinct advatage to, most of the athletes will use it. Baseball, Football, Cycling and MMA.

I would guess that eventually someone from MMA is going to pull a Jose Canseco and step forward and write a book to make some money by exposing the steroid use in MMA. It would be silly to think that most fighters don't use it.

Mastiff_owner 08-02-2006 10:10 PM

I will not assume that 95% of fighters are on roids. Every fighter gets tested before and sometimes after a fight. The difference between mma and all the other sports is it's a crap shoot as to whether or not you will get tested. The other sports do random testing, its a gamble as to whether or not they will get caught. The player unions will not allow 100% testing. Boxing and mma are about the only sports that test EVERY competitor. So I think you are wrong unless you are talking about Pride because they do not test at all.

I will give you that Coleman did a lot for mma and i do respect him for that but i lost most all respect for him because he is a CHEATER. Combat sports are one of the oldest and noblest of all sports and there is no room for a cheater in the combat arts. It is disrespectful to everyone, fans, other fighter, pioneers of mma and founders of the arts that are on display(judo, jiu-jitsu,sambo etc)

It is sad that anyone would try to justify cheating because "other people do it" Give me a break and find another hero.

really? there's no way that Chute Boxe doesn't roid, but people don't ride them like Hammer House.
yeah, Coleman might, but you think Silva is the way he his without good ol' roid rage? i know he always seems intense like that, but his somewhat fluctuating strength and size levels scream CYCLE, as well as starting multiple in-ring fights, whether or not he or they are involved. he seems to be a huge poster boy for steroids, to be honest, i think if you give Coleman shit, you should get everyone who ever has symptoms of steroid use.

people say Baroni is big time juicer, yet he was actually bigger in the UFC, with testing and all.

I was ofcourse referring to Pride regarding the roids. Coleman is not my hero, that would go to Fedor, Mark Kerr and Silva. I admire what they stand for and look up to it and have a great deal of respect for all of them.
