IFL in Chicago
Did anyone go to the IFL meet and greet and training seminars in Chicago Aug. 5? It was a really awesome experience. I got to meet Bas Rutten, Pat Miletich, and Maurice Smith. All very cool people. I talked to Pat a minute or two about the UFC scheduling 63 the same night as the IFL show and you could just tell how mad he was about it, but rather than bashing Dana, he kinda just brushed it off. Bas was really cool too. I asked him about the rumors of a bas/ken match in WFA and he said that it wouldn't make sense unless ken got a few wins, which i agree with. Maurice Smith was probably the coolest though. i talked to him for about 15 minutes outside of the booth about the smaller promotions like IFL and Strikeforce and he was just really cool. then i walk away from smith and turn around fuckin' Andrei Arlovski is standing right there. even after talking to Bas, Miletich and Smith, i was just star struck. especially since he was in regular street clothes and was just walkin around. so i went up to him and got a pic and he was really cool, but i didn't really try to talk to him like i did with the others, mostly because i was afraid i wouldn't understand him totally and didn't wanna bother him. Renzo Gracie, Carlos Newton, and Matt Lindland were all there too, signing autographs and taking pics, but i didn't get a chance to talk to them. all in all it was just awesome and i hope other promotions do this too, because from a fan's standpoint, its just an awesome experience.
