| Ortiz VS Shamrock III
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has been negotiating with Tito Ortiz and Ken Shamrock to promote a third installment of their blood-feud.
Apparently the talks went well.
UFC president Dana White is quoted in Sunday’s Las Vegas Review-Journal that the trilogy-making bout will take place.
“[Ortiz-Shamrock II] had a lot of buildup and a lot of hype and it ended in a minute,” White told Kevin Iole. “Nobody got to see the fight they paid to come to see, so we’re going to give it to them.”
Sherdog.com has learned through sources close to both fighters that the show was scheduled for October 10 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla., and would have aired live on SpikeTV.
However, there has been a holdup on securing the venue and the particulars of the event remain up in the air at this time.
According to one source, the card has been finalized but no contracts have been sent out to any of the fighters due to the venue issues.
It would seem likely that the show could be held at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas — where Diego Sanchez fights Karo Parisyan on August 17’s UFC Fight Night — if things are not resolved in Florida. The resort is the newest piece of UFC owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta’s hotel and casino empire.

I just want to say i know alot of ppl are sick of this fued and dont care to see a third fight. But aleast the UFC knows and more importantly is admitting the second fight was a huge let down. I also think its cool that they want to put the fight on Spike instead of us having to pay for it. Seems like there trying to rectify the situation.

I've heard that Dana was planning on having Tito vs. Shamrock 3 on TUF 4 finale. I'll be honest, I think having the fight on cable t.v. is a great opportunity for UFC in several ways. For one, the fans who feel they wasted their money on 61 will get a chance to see the fight for free. I for one would be very pleased with the organization for doing this. Second, if the fight is on the finale, the UFC would probably set a record for cable tv viewing and be able to showcase some of the lesser known fighters. This is a step in the right direction for UFC.

I'll admit, when I first heard rumors of fight #3 happening, I almost lost it! Who in their right mind would wanna pay to see this again. But now that it seems Dana is trying to get it on Spike, I'm excited. I couldn't agree more with you. This is a great way to give the fans what they deserve. Hopefully everything works out for this to happen!

Or do you know something else about the TUF 4 finale date?

I feel like Dana is redeeming himself a little. I will watch since it is on cable but otherwise I still dont think it makes sense if Tito is trying to get a title shot again.

I am so glad dana white is redeeming UFC 61 with this rematch. However, why the hell would Tito take this match, if he wins, he gains nothing, if he loses he loses everything. I mean he has like a 95% chance of winning, but shamrock can knock him out or submit him, he alwasy has the punchers/submitters chance of winning. Hopefully it will be on a fight night and not a finally, that way you can display talents like a bisping.

Shamrock reminds me of the limbless Black Knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail...
