All I can say is that Mir had better get it to the ground and quick. Then he had better go for the sub quick. I can't believe he has been fighting as long as he has and he still doesn't have a gas tank big enough to go 2 minutes without gassing.

yeah i don't think Mir would be so dumb as to take this fight as soon as UFC 62. He knows he needs to really get into shape! Mir is the one who has everything to lose here...Vera has everything to gain. Vera will be a made man if he wins this fight! If Mir comes in shape, this will probably be one of the most exciting heavyweight fights of the entire year! It's fights like this that will help the Heavyweight division big time! I'll bet who ever wins this fight will fight the winner of Sylvia/Monson. I'm sure that it was a typo on Vera's website and it won't happen til at least UFC 63, for Mir's sake anyways.

Vera is no slouch on the ground though. I don't see Mir subbing him if he couldn't sub Cristison.

The other thread about this has more accurate info saying the fight will take placed at UFC65 in November.

I won't belive it's happening at 62 until UFC puts it on the fight card on their page. I really hope its later so that Mir can (hopefully) come in in good shape.

edit: Veras website says UFC 65. Thank god. Mir has plenty of time to decide if his heart is in fighting and if he wants to come into this fight in shape.

No doubt. I completely agree with you but it is really his only chance in my opinion. If his standup has not improved greatly since the last time I saw him fight and he tries to stand with Vera it will be lights out.

mirs tone of voice reveals alot-
i didn`t see dan/mir but like hughes mirs wins do seem to have related to what the other guy did in the fight more then him fighting like silva/rampage action. to bad we have to wait.:banghead:
