Basically saying that Saku was rushed to hospital after the event and was unable to attend any post-fight interviews.
He underwent an MRI and was taken back to hospital the following day(Monday).

K-1 has announced it is not been determined if he will fight in the next round.

In the statement, K-1 has said the problem lies with the referee who didn't stop the fight and let it continue longer than necessary.

For all the posters who thought the fight was right to go on, despite obvious risks to the health of Saku, please comment and tell me you feel it was right to continue now."

the fight should have ended instead of being re-started. He was done when he was between the ropes and only survived that because the ref. stopped and restarted the fight (it's one of my pet pevs regarding using boxing rings for MMA competitions).

What are you talking about. If it was up to a lot of posters on this forum Ken Shamrock would be in a far worse condition.

Hopefully some of these retards thinking Herb stopped the fight too soon will now realise the consequences of stopping the fight too late.

It was directed at everyone who bitched about Herb Deans decision to stop the fight when Ken was clearly finished in the Ortiz fight.

Also Smirnovas gassed after throwing bombs on Saku's face for 3 minutes solid. Throwing punches like that will sap your energy faster than pretty much anything else. Ordinarily he wouldn't have gassed cos any ref who has a clue to what they're doing would never have let that fight go on that long.

That's what you get when you have such a big name making their debut in some of these organisations.

Herb dean did Ken a favor. Not only did he save him the embarrassment of another beating at the hands of tito but he also saved him several thousand dollars in cosmetic surgery to put his face back together. Herb absolutely did the right thing and the potential injury to Sak proves it. It will be a god awful shame if this ends up retiring him. Which is possible if there was any major damage. Remember Joe Mesi?????

After watching the fight I have to give props to saku. But in all fairness he looked more out of it then Ken Shamrock did.

Wow..I guess we shopuld just start calling it the "Shamrock Defense" when a fighter is blocking punches with his face. The "Shamrock Reverse Defense" is blocking punches with your ass while halfway hanging outside the ring..

The fight should have been called even before the restart. Yeah yeah yeah...he came back and won the fight, but it sounds like he lost the war.

I like good fights and I like to see a good beating. I do not like to see permanent injury.
