Does anyone know who is in line to give Sylvia the beatdown. I heard Monson and Vera were considered top contenders. Is it Monson that gets the bead on him next? I should probably know this but I either heard this and forgot or missed a conformation. I hope the snowman breaks his arm.

Yeah, Monson has the shot at UFC 65. Vera will be fighting Frank Mir to see who will be top contender to the winner of Sylvia vs Monson

Quick question for all the Tim haters out there. Everyone is saying Monson will destroy tim my question is How? Most of Monsons sub wins have came from a rear naked choke, this is going to be very hard to work ask Tim. Tims never been knocked out and been in there with much better strikers. I do understand that Monson has only been koed once which was by Ricco but we all know what Tim did to him. So how exactly is Monson going to just walk right throught Tim again?

Well for starters Tim won't have the help of his steroids like he did for the Ricco fight. Monson will have to use a big burst of energy and takedown Silvia and then pound him out and grab the same arm and yank on it a bunch. I hope Sylvia takes a beating before he is subbed for being a pussy against AA and counterpunching for 5 rounds and forcing us to miss some really good fights.

for being a pussy against AA? You do realize the main objective is too win the fight right? He had a good gameplan, executed it and won. As far as Monson taking him down, I will believe that when i see it.

Well their original plan was to have him make his return and go straight to the top so they put him in against Cruz thinking Mir would handle that and well, Mir got caught with some elbows and punches and was a bloody mess so they called it.

Then he comes into his next fight and gases after about 2 minutes and was in atrocious fighting shape with his flabby stomache hanging out, fihgting a can Dan Christianson.

So after that series of events UFC realizes Mir is not goignt o work out for a #1 contender spot and Vera is the readiest of fighters so there you have it, Mir vs Vera #1 contender match. UFC wants and beleives Vera will win this obviously or are hoping Mir gets back into shape and starts fighting but he will never be the same fighter, the leg is fucked and he should reture after this fight IMO or really get serious about training but his mobility does not seem like it did before the leg injury.

Like I stated before I think Vera will accomplish what Couture did, he is going to get the HW belt and then drop down to 205 and get the LHW belt.

With his skills I don't see why he would not accomplish this feat in a few years and Chuck will be stepping down within a few years but I would like to see him fight Vera before he does.

Yes when your gameplan is to stand there, and stand there..... and stand there some more and then when your opponent throws a punch or a leg kick, you throw a counter punch, yes that is garbage, AA was ridiculous not to be able to capitalize and beat a fighter who is throwing only counters, he did not push the pace at all and nevr threw the first punch in an exchange, for me it was like watching Diego fight John Alessio and that was one ofthe most boring fights I have seen as was the AA vs Sylvia 3.

I know he won the fight and apparently executed his gameplan if it was indeed to just stand there for 25 minutes, when they were interviewing him after the fight and showing replays and saying "talk us through some of the action" and they show a highlight of Tim throwing 1 punch then stand there, cut to the next highlight, Tim throws 1 punch, then stands there, I as a fan feel raped and as a champion IMO Sylvia should be embarrassed by that performance, they both should.

That is all I am saying, it bothers me to see the UFC HW champion defend his title by standing there for 25 minutes and counter punching, not really a champions performance and I was expecting a great fight as were everyone else and felt let down by that fight and the majority of the blame is on Sylvia because AA was pushing the action just kept on throwing the same exact 1-2 combo which was not landing the entire fight but at least the man was still pushing the fight. The moments where AA just stood there to see if Sylvia would actually throw something, he didn't and there were parts of that fight with like 15 seconds of AA waiting for Tim to throw something and then finally saying to himself fuggin I guess this guy is not going to throw a punch or kick.

Chalk it up as a win nonetheless but a sad one at that.

Monson really doesn't have a chance.He's too small for HW he should go back to 205.Everytime he tries to go for a take down he's going to eat a jab.The reach is just WAY too much for him.We've seen Sylvia utilize his reach against guys much bigger than Monson.I mean Monson is only 5'8 and he hasn't faced a good striker in long while for god's sakes!It's like Matt Boone says.Chuck was able to beat him with just leg kicks.Cruz was able toi give him lots of trouble with nothing ,but a weak jab and leg kicks.Tim Sylvia will offer up more than a weak jab and leg kicks.Sylvia will win this fight without much trouble.I don't see Monson being able to get inside Sylvia's punches to take him down.

Man I am a big AA fan and I can't friggin' stand Tim Sylvia, But with that said I really, and I mean really don't see Jeff Monson standing a chance against Sylvia. I think Monson's gonna have a hell of a time trying to take him down, he sure as hell is gonna stand with him, and to me Monson's cardio is gonna play a big factor. completely lost steam against Lidell and Cruz and the fights against hinkle and Perosh ended in the first round. And Hinkle and Perosh aren't AA or Ricco.

This is all my opinion so now I say Snowman, please go prove me wrong, and if you can't then I hope Vera takes Sylvia.
