wasnt randy vs. wand soposed to happen? i thought i remembered that but didnt think i was right but i found this on a site.
At Octagon ringside for UFC 49 was PRIDE’s 205-lb Champion Wanderlei Silva, who accepted Couture’s invitation to do battle with him and unify the light heavyweight belt. But many, including Randy, are skeptical of the dream match becoming a reality.
"You know, I think realistically it will be a stretch to see that fight happen, simply because the two organizations have a lot of differences. I think right now, at least from my prospective, the ball is in PRIDE’s court. They need to step up and be willing to discuss some terms and send some fighters to the UFC. But that hasn’t been done. The UFC have sent some fighters to PRIDE, and they are kinda waiting for a reciprocation."
Known as the ‘chess champion’ of N-H-B fighting, Couture is regarded as a master strategist when discovering chinks in his opponents’ game plans, and for his ability to employ his own mind powers to play havoc with an adversary’s own game plan. Whether such a fight as Couture v Silva were to take place in UFC’s Octagon or PRIDE’s traditional boxing ring matters little to Randy.
"Certainly I’d prefer the Octagon cage, but with time to train and prepare, I think I would tactically make the adjustments and fight in the ring, and be just as effective. It’s only a matter of having the time to prepare…knowing what the rules and the differences of the rules are, and the venue. I’ve fought in a ring before, so I don’t think that’d be a big issue."

If this doesn't say it all, I don't know what does. I'm from the USA, and I love this country. You know what in an open weight match Lidell doesn't stand a chance against Fedor, but I'm cheering for Chuck all the way.
I think when they announced this match the biggest concern for me Silva passing a drug test. I think as we get closer to the fight with all the recent test failures, Silva is worried he can't pass. That's right, I said it.

once fedor beats all the hw's from the ufc, he might eventually want to beat chuck. he is only 6 feet and weighs 233 with flab that he could easily cut off and be more cut and weigh around 220 and lose the rest water weight. randy couture walks around at over 225.

it isnt an unrealistic match, its not like fedor is a big heavweight. if the chuck wand fight does somehow happen, there really wont be any more contenders in the lhw devision. of course tito thinks taht he can beat chuck which he stands no chance he will get ko'ed, chuck might have to face some heavyweights to get a chalange.

Like I said before, you all put WAAAAY too much faith in Dana White, the man is a real piece of work, I've been saying this for quite sometime now.
I am not at all surprised by this, just like him claiming UFC 60 did not sell 800,000 PPV's, just like him claiming he doesn't know who the IFL is unless someone tells him, I don't understand how UFC fans can be so thick and ignorant.
I am a fan of all MMA and to me it seems like UFC fans are the dumbest one's out there and I would place some of that reasoning on the fact that there are a lot of newer fans.
PRIDE certainly wants this fight to happen, they have been trying to reach the US forever and now that UFC has built the US fan base, PRIDE wants nothing more than to come in and basically say, "you've seen their fighters, now this is what we have". Sakakibara is supremely confident Wandy would win this fight and that alone would gain PRIDE lots of fan base.
Pride could bring in any of their top 5 HW an dclean out UFC's division.
For me, this is not even an issue of money, it is Dana White realizing what a bad move for UFC it would be if their golden boy were to be defeated by Wandy. And watch, other than the press releases, we will never hear anything else about the UFC 61 annouced Chuck vs Wandy fight and that chapter will be closed.
I would say it was about money but given Dana's history, I think there is more to it than that and this is total fucking bullshit and I'm pissed.

Tito would as well, it's easy to spot a Tito hater and there are an absolte TON of them in this site.
Then you have the PRIDE LHW's. Silva, Arona, Little Nog, Shogun, Nakamura and Randleman. I put Randleman on that list because he is a huge threat in the octagon, a rematch would be a good fight.
Also you have Melvin Manhoef and Rampage that would both give Chuck a challenge as well.
But there is no way in hell Chuck would defeat all of those Pride names, IMO he loses against Silva, Arona, Little Nog and Rua but he has a legit chance against Nakamura and Randleman but cmon Chuck needing more of a "challenge", maybe in UFC but certainly not in MMA, ther are a plethora of world class LHW.

For whatever reasons the fight has been delayed/cancelled if you feel the need to blame someone it has to be Dana White.
Unless he had a written legal contract with Wanderlie Silva to step in the cage with Chuck Liddle in November he had no right to stand in the middle of the cage & announce this fight to the world.
How would he react if Sakibara had Matt Hughes stand in a Pride ring & announced he was fighting Henderson?
He blames everyone but himself if anything goes wrong & claims ignorance when he obviously intentionally hinders other organizations.
I've said it before but White is a media hungry twat & he should concentrate on running the UFC as a legitimate company & not try to be the face of the UFC.

Chuck already had a fight comming up and it was just ackward how he went all WWE and shit when in all reality we dont know who is going to win Chucks next fight. Lets say he gets submitted by some freaky mistake then we are all siting there fucking disapointed that the Sylva fight isnt going to happen. It is amature at times the way he promotes.

come on.....that's just not fair...you can't announce a match up so big and get us all worked up then take it all away.....
