I know it was a great fight, but he still lost. He needs to get a few wins under his belt before they can justify giving him a title shot.

But who else would you give a title shot to? When Parisyan lost his shot, Riggs stepped up, and he wasn't exactly a worthy contender. If St. Pierre steps out, then the UFC can't jeapordize their main event by scrapping the bout altogether; they will need to find a fitting replacement, and in my mind, the former champion (and the last guy to defeat Matt Hughes) would deserve the title shot if St. Pierre weren't able to fight. Not only is the timing right (compared to Diego Sanchez or Karo Parisyan, who would be only a month removed from their UFC Fight Night bout when UFC 63 arrives), but Penn is one of the top three welterweights in the world. If St. Pierre can't fight, then Penn is the next best shot.
However, I'm not concerned in the least bit about Georges St. Pierre dropping out of UFC 63. He's fine. Either that, or he's delusional. Because he just posted a blog up on UFC.com: "I've been waiting for my rematch with Matt Hughes for a long time ... It has been a long road, but the outcome will be me winning the Welterweight title. I will be in the best shape of my life for this fight."

( LINK ) | I agree. If GSP was really dropping out then the best option would be Penn. But if the winner of the Karo Sanchez match had proper time to train then i would say whoever the winner of that match. But it really doesnt matter bc TapThatMat is a lying douche.

I'll beileve it when i hear an accual reliable source, untill then im pumped to see GSP take the title home!! and even if he was hurt i seriously doubt dana would stab GSP in the back and give Penn a title shot.

| sanchez is overrated
I dont think Karo, Or Sanchez would even have a hope in hell with Hughes, I think Sanchez is Very Over-rated, and cannot wait to see him lose, hopefully the heat will take him out.
I really hope St.pierre stays in this fight, i beleive he has got the title, then we'd see hughes pierre 3
