| Kit Cope Talks Steroids, Injury, and More part two
part one of the interview- http://hacnews.com/kitcopeinterview.html Quote:
By: John "JR" Houck
He's not one to pull punches or hold back anything he has to say and he has A LOT to say. Kit Cope sat down with HACNews' JR for this exclusive and very in-depth interview where he talks about everything from steroids and Kenny Florian to Sokoudjou and his knee being torn like a piece of turkey meat. This is the first part of a very open interview.
JR :This is JR for HACNews.com joined by a great Muay Thai practitioner Kit Cope. Kit what you been up to lately?
Kit: Lately The most I’ve been doing lately is sitting on a couch.
JR: We all enjoy that from time to time.
Kit: Well you see I got a new knee well new to me not new to the dead guy they took it out of to give to me. It’s new to me. I got a new one a new ACL just all new knee parts.
JR :We haven't seen you since January when you faced Rob McCullough at WEC 25 in Vegas. We know you've had some serious injuries just occur not too long ago with your knee, can you explain what happened and the severity of the injuries, how long you will out of action?
Kit: I had a separation in my rib but it healed up in a few weeks it left a little lump but I'm still beautiful, but the knee injury happened while I was training for a fight in the AFL in Louisville, Kentucky. I was out at Quest in Timecula California. I was training with those guy Thierry Sokoudjou…I don’t know if you heard of him but he’s the guy who knocked out Rogerio Nogueira and then knocked out Arona.
JR: The world is watching and waiting on him to see his next move and see who he fights.
Kit: Yeah well I was watching as he tore my knee in half.
JR: DAMN!
Kit: Yeah you know we were sparring and he tried to a sweep on my right leg while he was holding my left leg. Instead my ankle stayed still and my knee went way to the side. Tore the old ACL the Meniscus,The MCl, the red Maculum. Pretty much the worse thing you could DO…I did….in fact, you know how it sounds when you tear a turkey leg off?
JR: Yeah I do.
Kit: yeah imagine if that was your leg and you were still awake to feel it. That was the sound it made and it was awesome.
JR: I love how you can describe something that painful as awesome. But seriously have you got any ill feelings towards him?
Kit No way not at all I mean...he’s just a big bull in a China shop ya know?
JR: Yeah that dude is insane....just insane.
Kit: He just doesn't know how strong he is but that works to his advantage you see that’s how he’s going to take over the world…ya know?
JR: Yea man. Onto the next subject. I know you must hear about this a lot but, You tested positive for steroids following your last fight with “Razor” Rob. Can you explain that situation and is there anything you'd like to say about the whole thing to the fans?
Kit: Absolutely what happened was….What had happened was[in best imitation of a Will Smith]...
JR: [Laughs] That always makes a good story...
Kit I got shoulder surgery two Decembers before that fight, about 13 months prior, two months after the fight with "FloJo".
JR: Wait a second…are you talking about Kenny Florian when you say FloJo?
Kit: I am talking about Kenny…K-lo whatever the hell he is…so I'll meet him again one day and spank him like the ugly red-headed stepchild he is. So um... anyway I get into a motorcycle accident before the fight and then the fight finished it off. I got a complete reconstruction of the AC joint in my shoulder which sucks a lot. After that the doctor a shot a substance called bordolone and that is an anabolic substance. It’s not a horse steroid…when they said that I thought it was great, you know bay thoroughbred [laughs] but yeah it was developed for racehorses. What that does is basically, in athletes, Doctors will give them those substance which increases protein faster and help me heal faster. It was definitely not for performance.
Jr: You don't need any help there do ya?
Kit: No not at all. Plus I've tested 12 times and every time was clean. But I get tested every time because I come into the ring fucking shredded and beautiful..oops sorry for the F bomb.
JR: No doubt man this is an open interview say what you feel.
Kit: Fuckin' Solid. They test me because they don't think I can look so beautiful naturally.
JR: Some of the women who you have around you, we can't doubt that.
Kit: Exactly…I've got 12 testing's completely clean. But I lost 30 lbs that year. I cut from my walking weight of 185 and fight weight of 170 to fight weight 155. I was not taking performance enhancing steroids…I got ass shots 220 milligrams of bordorlone from my doctor who can attest to this. This stuff can stay in your system fom 18 months, very similar to Nandrolone Denowitz...which a lot of people test positive for.
JR: Sherk tested positive for Nandrolone Metabolite, his score...
Kit: Yeah well check this, I only scored a 7 and it’s detectable at 5 so in a few days a few pisses it would have been gone. Below 5 it is not findable. It’s not that the substance is not in your body but they test for the trash it leaves behind…so it wasn't active in my body just the shit it left. Which proves it was very old. So every bit of common sense shows I was not taking for performance enhancer.
JR: I understand man.
Kit: So the NSAC had to set an example of me. Even though I had been fighting there for 14 years.
JR: I guess they have to do that to make an example.
Part 2
Kit: Yeah, anyway you know there’s a new commission…ya know Mark Ratner who is the king of all athletic commissions…he is just the most awesome guy I’ve ever dealt with. But he quit and now he’s working for the UFC. So this new guy, Kevin Keiser, came in and took over…and hell I don’t know, maybe he’s got a little wee-wee or something..
JR: Small man Complex?
Kit: [laughs] Yeah that’s the word. He’s got something to prove and he’s got to set an example. I mean he’s scratched a lot of people wrong lately.
JR: Yeah?
Kit: Yeah but you look at me and it’s obvious I’m not on any steroids.
JR: You're kind of small….no offense.
Kit: Naw, naw I’m with you. It’s not just that I’m small though, but I lost weight. I lost 30lbs of weight also, plus then you know I got tested 12 times in 14 years and all of them were clean. I had shoulder surgery. All this, you put it together it’s all obvious.
JR: I broke my leg and they gave me steroids to help it get back, they didn't just turn me loose.
Kit: I mean he could have just said “you should have told us” but I actually had no problem peeing, wasn’t nervous. I mean they walked in, I whipped it out, turned around, and handed them the cup. I did not even think twice, whipped out my wang and handed it over. I mean got the shot thirteen months ago and instead of just a little of punishment like a fine, they gave me the full shaft. Nine solid months and a third of the purse. That same day he bent Nick over and did him bare.
JR: Nick Diaz?
Kit: For weed dude…for weed.
JR: That screwed my world up when they took that win away from him [Nick]. [Laughs]
Kit: For weed dude! What kind of performance enhancer was that?
JR: I see it like this he beat Gomi, HIGH!!! [Laughs]
Kit: [Laughs] But you see here’s the thing dude. It’s not like he smoked before the fight and then went out and fought. He was around it “allegedly”. He was around it a few days prior to the fight. So the thing is though, is that…well while I’m talking shit I better talk about everybody.. So Dr. Tony Alamo…
JR: Oh God not him to.
Kit: Yeah this is the very same guy who told me, even though any research you pull up on Bordelone, that it can stay in your system for up to 19 months.
JR: Let me guess, he got you too?
Kit: Yeah, he could understand a few weeks but not month. He’s supposed to be a fucking doctor. For all you people who have smoked marijuana this is the funny part. He told Nick Diaz, “I believe that you were so high on pot marijuana”...he did say pot marijuana by the way.
JR: [Laughs]
Kit: [Laughs] I believe you were so high on pot marijuana and THC that you were impervious to pain.
JR: He seriously said that?
Kit: Exactly, numbs the pain so you can’t get a tattoo it hurts so bad when you're high.
JR: It makes it worse?
Kit: Exactly but anyway, listen to this, this is even funnier. He told Nick that “ You were so numb to the pain that had you been clean, you would have tapped out from the beating you were receiving.”
JR: Did that guy ever watch Nick [Diaz] fight?
Kit: Nick was never in a position to tap out. He took a couple of shots, but he was never near tapping out.
JR: He got dropped, but did he really tell Nick that to his face?
Kit: Apparently he didn’t watch the fight.
JR: Your venture from Muay Thai into MMA hasn’t exactly gone the way you hoped, what do you feel is the cause?

thanks for that..
there's always 2 sides to every story.. i was wondering (probably was the only one haha) what was happening with kope...
if what he says about the level of steroids they detected in his body and the motorcycle accident is true, i feel kinda bad for him... i first just thought he was some juicing asshole that shoulda trained with hammer house but after that i got a little more respect for him.

Ok... if Nick Diaz explained his position on Nick Diaz the way Kit Cope explained his position on Nick Diaz, it wouldn't be so easy to make fun of Nick Diaz. During Kit's time off he could have made some extra dough by being Nick's PR guy.
