The Gracie Down Fall

Tonight has proven to myself as many others as the most embarrassing moment for the entire Gracie Family... Yeah he did do one thing he didnt tap when his arm was fully hyperextended in an modified keylock but still the same Royce Gracie Couldnt even Get into the Guard position with Matt Hughes... Hughes Dominated this fight completely... My Respect for Hughes as a Fighter is unbeliveable anymore taking down and Man handling one of the most respected men ever to walk into the octagon.. Royce did all this talking all this hyping up of this fight and for what?? Only to let this man come in and completely beat the ever living shit out of him... Honestly this welterweight division full and complete This shows what kind of true athelete matt hughes really is... I think Matt Hughes conducted himself as a class act.. and this should tell anyone taking BJJ that there is so much more cross training then just plan ole Gracie BJJ in MMA these days... Matt wasnt cocky... Royce at the end of the fight looked embarrassed looked like a man with a broken spirit.. I would be very surprised to see him fight anymore in the UFC or period... This has to be a bell ringer for Rickson who will face Sakuraba in K-1 heros.. If Pride could have Matt Hughes in their WWGP He would win Hands down... If he conducts himself the way He did tonight clam humble and precise I think He may beat GSP in Sept... Matt Hughes is one hell of a wrestler and looked great at 175.5 lbs. Helio Gracie looked like OLE SHIT WHAT JUST HAPPEND TO MY SECOND BEST STUDENT??? Note to self. GRACIES SHOULD LIFT WEIGHTS INSTEAD OF LOOKING LIKE SCRONY ETHIOPEANS.... To conclude this post i think it will be wise if the Gracie family to start cross training in other areas besides BJJ.. cause in this case he got OUT CLASSED tonight..

GracieAlumni 05-27-2006 11:59 PM

Matt is 32... thats not YOUNG!!!

Tystick357 05-27-2006 11:59 PM

Fresh face? Hughes has been around for a long time.

I look forward to a moderator or admin getting rid of you soon.

bigdaddy 05-28-2006 12:55 AM

this is rediculous

Are you serious. your that pissed just because someone has thought
provoking conversation. I'm not a troll or some junkie strung out on a thought.
actually I have been studying aikido and tai boxing for 11 years and I
had a view of the fight, thats all. nothing else. everyone may be correct
yet the whole ufc card 2night was weak and it starts people to wonder.
goodnight guys go hit a bag or something! geez louis too damn serious

Tystick357 05-28-2006 01:04 AM

Sorry :P, I'm not exactly totally sober now anyways. Also, at the moment I had thought you were a trol, especially after your all caps post in one of the other threads.

In a more recent post than that I said . . . .

Quote:

Man if you really aren't joking and you really think it was rigged, just relax. Like Kass said, if they fixed the fight it wouldn't have been that one sided anyways. And like I said, if you are being truthful, you conspiracy theorists need to calm the hell down. You may be right some of the time, but all you do most of the time is just make a damn mountain out of a molehill when nothing is there.
So as you see I took a less drsatic way of talking there. Conspiracy people just piss me the hell off, don't take it personally.

bigdaddy 05-28-2006 01:14 AM

totally understand

I really understand , yet im not some conspiracy theory guy. im a legetimate
martial artist and have been a bouncer in many clubs yet not proud of that.
had many fights and seen many fights. all I was trying to get across is
something did not look right with royce. He didnt have the tenacity
in it at all. it was as if he was upset before the fight began. I know people
have there thoughts yet the ufc is getting kind of boring you got to admit.
what does that say. mmmm. things dont sit right in that show or event.
will be only watching k-1 or pride from now on.

Tystick357 05-28-2006 01:16 AM

UFC getting boring? I'm not going to say it was even close to being the best damn show ever but it was good. Also, you said Hughes was a new face. That just doesn't fly by me and I don't see how you could think that, hence me thinking you're a troll.

Many fighters have DOMINATED others who were/are good. It happens. I will agree something looked wrong with Royce, after he lost the fight since he was dominated so badly. It would certainly cause a damper on your day.

bigdaddy 05-28-2006 01:37 AM

gracie reply

well, ufc is not as a good reputation as pride or even k-1 which is totally
different yet 2night was a complete hash mash. Under card sucked with
diego, he should have lost just because he was on a guys back 4 2 minutes and he couldnt bring him down. fresh face means 4 the next few years
the ufc will pitch guys for matt 2 fight for him 2 win. matt has been in it
for a while yet there are some middleweights that can beat him. out there
somewhere. why doesnt ufc find them. it doesnt promote is why.
I used to promote concerts what point would it make if I promoted a concert
with led zepplin on the main billing and beatles as the opening act.
would be a bad decision because my undercard would be as good or stronger
than my finalie and I would have no talent for next month.
look around why hasnt arlovski fought tito yet??? the biling is so high they need a year of hype to make the money for the event through promotions
take care guys but remember promotions is what this sport cares about not
winning fights. the promoters control the fighters. Think about it!!!!

Tystick357 05-28-2006 01:43 AM

Pitch Matt fights for him to win? GSP obviously isn't a pitch in to win fight, neither is BJ if he gets the rematch, which HAS to happen.

I think the Diego/Alessio fight decision was fine. It could have gone either way IMO. I would have been satisfied either way. But I was glad it went to Diego since he was the aggressor, you shouldn't win a fight off pure defense the whole time.

UFC is no more corrupt than any other organization. Other organizations always pitch fights to top fighters as you accuse UFC of doing for Hughes in the future.

EDIT-And I'm out for now. It's about 4 o'clock, I'm going to head and get some Z's.
