How do ou figure? Lister had to cut a ton of weight and his opponent had excellent sub defense which in-turn made Lister gas trying to pull off the sub time and time again. Lister is not overrated at all, he will remain atop the leader board in the MW division. I think it is too early to count him out, his next fight at 185 we will certainly be able to better gauge his game.
I missed the Riggs fight, I was taking a piss, came out of the bathroom and Von Flue was done. Dunno what happened but saw the replay and Riggs won by a nice sub.

| lister's fight
it was obvious that Lister was extremely gassed so you can't say his stand up is terrible. He dropped a lot of weight really quickly i think he shoulda been training closer to that weight for a few months instead of going from 210 to 185. He's already proved his grappling is one of the best in the world so after some more hard training and time at that weight he will be more impressive

when Lister fights someone who's not retarded enough to enter his guard and can throw punches, he'll get KTFO.
he's one-dimensional. his submission game is one of the best in the world, his other game definitely needs work
and who cares about him cutting weight. he's there to win, gassing because lack of water is not going to take the L off his record when he gets caught gasping for air and unable to pull the strength for the takedown
he got rocked multiple times in his fight, his hands low and chin stickin out. against a guy who has never won a fight by (t)ko

Key Word.... "first" fight at 185, he will be dominant in his next performance.

I don't think Lister is overrated, I just thought he cut too much weight and being so dehydrated and gassed just shot all his offense and defense to shit in the third round. His stand up will improve.
I think Riggs is just trying to get some wins in a row at a constant weight claass just to get rolling. The kid is 23 and has fought a ridiculous amount of fights for that age. In all sincereity I think the sky is the limit for him if he can keep his head on straight.

I really hate to say it...cuz I'm not trying to provoke a huge argument, but why is it that someone like say....Leben can win his fight in DOMINATING fashion (probably one of the cleanest ko's in recent memory) and still get bashed to no end in other topics, but someone like Lister who obviously just wasn't at his best tonight, constantly gets nut-hugged? I love Lister. Don't get me wrong. He has all the potential and skill in the world to be a great possible champ someday. But tonight just wasn't his night. I'm not too familiar with the guy he was fighting, but I believe he lucked out by not being handed a UFC veteran. He really needs to step up his game in order to impress me next time out. That fight was just about Rashad Evans caliber, except with at least a COUPLE attempts to finish.
By the way, I realize Sasaki (Lister's opponent) is an MMA veteran. But UFC is the big stage. And some people have trouble making that transition.

You're actually wrong man. Sasaki is used to the bog stage, he is a Pancrase veteran who has also fought in PRIDE which is certainly a much bigger stage than UFC as you are fighting in front of 50,000+ people and not the 10,000-20,000 like UFC.
Watching the fight, it is very difficult to knock Lister in the fight, my only criticism would be that he was not patient in working the submission and it nearly cost him the fight. He underestimated the submission defense of Sasaki which was Lister's own fault, Sasaki is a Pancrase vet obviously versed in subs and sub defense.
The difference in the Lister and the Leben fight was that Lister looked sharp for the first 2 rounds and then gassed via his own fault for not ebing patient but Leben looked sloppy the entire fight.
I just don' see him ever holding a title or getting a title shot.
Watching Leben and watching Swick, I would put the house on Swick to dominate Leben in a rematch. Leben is not learning at a fast enough pace or he has possibly reached his potential and this is it, nothing against him, I always enjoy his fights but he is looking really sloppy right now, I think with relentless training he could become a great fighter as the chin and heavy hands can take you very far but you must also be able to move well in the ring and he is unable to right now. Only time will tell with him, right now I have mixed feelings.
