I too agree GSP would slaughter Royce worse than Hughes did.

What can i say Seeing is believing.. I had no idea that Gracie wouldnt be able to get a guard on Hughes... I dont think anyone thought it was a possibility... Hughes Wrestling was awsome.. weather or Kass believes that it was a submission or not... a mans arm isnt designed to bend that way.... The shit hurts.. Then going to your back like that.. omg wtf was he thinking beside omg i dont have my guard i dont have a fighters chance anymore... Hughes was a class act... I dont think he will fight UFC either... I wrestled since i was old enough to join AAU at age 4 and took BJJ since i was 8... in the past two years ive picked up my striking.. I honestly thought BJJ is the most important part of the fight... I guess when you cross trainfor everything and hight the weights then you do have alot better chance...

If Hughes conducts himself like he did last night a True Class act then I dont see even GSP beating him... Experience is a big thing for a fighter.. thats why matt hughes is the fighter he is today :P

I wouldn't really want to see GSP vs Gracie or Penn vs Gracie either. It would be more of the same as the Hughes fight. Shamrock and Saku seem like much better options. Maybe even Kimo vs Gracie in K-1 or something. He needs to be matched with fellow legends.

Regarding my earlier comment, Royce v GSP

To be honest I have no interest in seeing Royce fight anymore, period. IF he is going to fight in the UFC I wouldn't mind seing how he can handle himself against someone like a GSP who he outclasses on the ground. GSP slaughters him in the standup, but on the ground I think Royce has a decent upperhand, Royce has much better skill but GSP is so explosive I am not sure he could keep him in his guard. just adding to the thread.

Rickson is awesome, but i may have to disagree. I would go with Helio for all time, hell the guy had his elbow snapped in a kimura and didnt tap, granted that was in like '56. But today, i would have to go with Rorion. The man is a ninth degree red and black i believe, or 10th... he is the man.

And if Royce had 2 more fights, Royce vs. Sakuraba 2, same rules. and than i would have to say Royce vs. Tito Ortiz... I am probably one of the biggest Gracie fans, i am old school mma so i stick with him even though there are much better all arounders today, but him and ortiz would sell

The problem with Royce as we know is he is still very much one dimensional & as they say styles make fights. I've said it all along but it's a sad fact that people are still bringing up that he was the dominant force in the early UFC. MMA did not exist as we know it in the early UFC & all they did was show us that bjj was better than shoot fighting, karate, sumo etc.

Two more fights for Royce should be against people like Sakuraba (himself a shadow of his former talent) or maybe Frank Shamrock. It's unfortunate but the sport has left him behind as proven by Hughes.

I don't know why it took that fight happening for people to realize it. Royce proved BJJ and his family was the best out in the beginning, proving what fighting really is. Comes back, tries to do it again and proves once again to the masses that fighting isn't what we thought it was again. Otherwise 50% of the people anticipating UFC 60 wouldn't have given Gracie a chance. I went on and on in here, and in my preview column on the site how dumbfounded I was by people really being divided on their pick for the fight. It was like Shamrock-Ortiz I all over again. People were really split down the middle on that fight going in, when to me (and I had just gotten back on the MMA bandwagon around this time, so I didn't understand the sport nearly as much as I do now) that one was another one painfully obvious going in what was going to happen. Out-class. I expected the same for Hughes-Gracie yet everyone was so split in half as to who was going to win. The myths that grow in the fight world are hard to crack, thankfully Zuffa has thrown some money around and proved what people debated for a while now....something like Royce in UFC today, etc.

Now nothing would make me happier than Rickson finally fighting a "somebody" under pro MMA rules. I would absolutely love for that myth to die a slow, terribly painful death. Because unlike Royce, Rickson never really proved anything in MMA. Royce did, just tried holding onto that glory for years after it was relevant
