REMINDER - 2nd IFL Show Comes On TODAY

We've got the full schedule up at www.mmanews.com for every FOX Sports Net time zone and start time for the show in the country. So check it out if you're not sure when it comes on. For me it comes on at 6pm (38 minutes from now) and to everyone else who knows when it airs, you better be watching! At least give it a chance before deciding the team concept is a stupid idea, I did on their debut show last week and I really enjoyed the show overall.

No one else really talked much about their show with me last week, I don't know if it's because the new forums were only 2 days old or what, but we've got a decent little audience here now so everyone better speak up about the IFL this week! It's Maurice Smith's team versus Renzo Gracie's team today. The winning team meets Pat Miletich's team (who beat Bas Rutten's team last week) in the first ever finals (they're now calling it the first ever pre-season championship or something because they're about to add a ton of new teams).

We have spoiler results for the fights scheduled on today's TV show on FSN on the www.mmanews.com site and I believe we've also got them in the MMA Spoilers forum here at forums.mmanews.com

I plan on watching the show tonight. Maurice's team seems like it could be pretty good. Renzo's team seems only so so, a lot of guys with very little experience.

Any word if IFL is going to show the superfights or are those just to draw the live audience to the venue?

Good question Lethal. I was hoping to see the Escovedo vs Pulver match, and I definitely want to see the Sims vs Gracie rematch after that event happens.

Yeah the Pulver-Escovedo match is the main one I was looking forward too. I hope they air it at same point even if not on today's show as it would be hard knowing the format seeing last week's show. It would be hard to fit in because they focus the entire show on it being team versus team, with each single match being like a new quarter or period during the game. I guess Pulver would be the half time show if that's the case? I dunno. Still it's a cool show and should be good again this week.

Any idea on how many teams they plan on having in the IFL?

I guess if they have around 10 or so teams eventually with 4 teams fighting on each event they would have to have 2-3 events a month.

And are they going to do all their shows in AC? With the team concept it might be a good idea every once in a while for when Miletich's team to have the event in Iowa or Seattle for Smith's team, etc.

Especially with the TV shows on hiatus now. Every new show to watch on TV is a lot better then being stuck with a whole bunch of nothing to watch tonight.

The 1st event was pretty good. I'll definitely tivo it tonight. I want to see Devin Cole and Matt Horwich in action again. Hallman is solid vet and usually fun to watch too.

IFL makes for good TV with the team format. I was skeptical at 1st but I enjoyed the 1st event and the scoring system. It's not the best stuff around, but it's free MMA. I can't complain about that.

Cole-Cline was funny in the first round. I forget who, but one guys mouth piece fell out while his opponent had his back. His opponent, still on his back, picks up the guys mouthpiece and puts it back in his mouth for him!! That was the funniest shit I've seen during a fight since Sakuraba's antics were still fresh.

Another solid show, Eric Owings looked really good in the first fight after his initial fear wore off (when he got tagged). Hallman got up-kicked and won by DQ against a capoeira/BJJ guy who seemed to be in control prior to the foul. Horwich is a weird dude, but a name I recognized from before the IFL existed. He got subbed quick with a guillotine. Maurce Smith's team wins, and takes on Miletich's team. They need to get better fighters on these teams, or no "team" is going to win their "team match" against Miletich's guys.

the show got prempted in my area with a baseball game. that upset me, but i'll catch the replay.
