I'm sorry but PRIDE is better at LW. Gomi, Mach, Hansen, Kawajiri, Aurelio, Azeredo, Ishida give the division more depth. Along with the young, up-and-comers like Melendez, Obiya, Hioki, Curran, and Azevedo who are all making their PRIDE debut at Bushido 12.

UFC does have some solid and very good LW. But as of now you can't put BJ Penn up there because he hasn't fought at LW in awhile and his next fight is supposed to be at WW. Sherk hasn't even fought at LW yet. Pulver is the last LW champ and one of my favorite fighters, but fact is he was 2-2 in PRIDE and lost to 2 of the top LW in Gomi and Sakurai. The other guys are good as well, fighters such as Stevenson, Yves, Stout, Florian, Fisher, Hominick, Gurgel, etc. But I don't see them on the level of the top PRIDE guys as of now.

In a couple of years the UFC could have the top LW class but as of now PRIDE has more legit top 10 fighters when it comes to LWs.

damn im tired of hearing everyone say how pride pays way more money than ufc or any other org my question is where do you get this info because i havent seen a pride pay scale once and rampage left big money organization pride to go to wfa where he was bitching about more money when he fought so where do all of you get that pride pays more money they probably pay more money in japanese currency or yen which if you convert one us dollar to yen its worth 115 yen so if you use that measure and say that pride pays a fighter 400,000 yen then in america they arent making shit i like both organazations and i believe its both orgs fault we wont see chuck/silva but i feel it is probably more prides fault as after the annoucement and big burst of yahoo lookers they realized the fight would be gigantic and they wanted more money and as for the tim/fedor fight im sure dana told sylvia there was no chance in hell he was fighting fedor on a pride ppv when they wont send one of there top to fight chuck in ufc now if pride had sent silva im sure ufc would have sent tim but oh well fuck it thats my two cent

I agree that it's both organizations fault for the Silva/Liddell fight not going down, because both have to come to terms. BUT, it's Dana White's fault for getting all of our hopes up and announcing the fight before he had anything signed, and it's also a big slap in the face to Babalu for announcing the fight before he and Chuck fight again. You don't announce a fight on a LIVE PPV, unless it's signed and sealed. He was counting his chickens before they hatched and we are the ones who must suffer because of it.

As far as the pay goes, it's all speculations. Some fighters say PRIDE pays more, some fighters say that it's about the same. I've never heard anyone say UFC pays more though. I'm sure it all depends on the fighter.

i think dana put it out there to a) feel out the anticipation and b)to allow people to see that both organizations are open to discussions for future fights

it just sucks, imo pride let dana take the face of the fight exclusivley so if i didnt go down then it would all fall on him alone


i hope that we get to see some actuall dream matches someday but for now we get to ponder who and how

Just going on what Bas and Mauro said at Shockwave 2004 when they siad that both Fedor and Nog were being payed 1 million dollars per fight (US currency and not Yen as you questioned). That may or may not be including a percentage of gate sales or PPV sales.

Rampage left Pride because he recieved a huge offer from WFA. $150,000 per fight and a percentage of the PPV and Rampage stated that he could retire after that fight so the PPV percentage he recieved must've been huge. He is the #1 guy in WFA along with Bas is Bas stays in WFA whereas Rampage was the #12-15 guy in Pride so he is being payed as the #1 guy in WFA which equates to more money that the #12-15 guy in Pride.

Look I agree with alot of your other points, but to talk about what happened 3 years ago is absurd. If we know anything about mma it's that in 3 years a fighter can improve tenfold. Chuck might have lost to Rampage in 03, but after seeing how rampage looked in a cage in 06 I don't think anybody here thinks Rampage is better than Chuck today.

but when you say with the live gate and ppv sales that still leaves question because its well known that chuck and randy both got gate and ppv sales for their match at that both made over a million after it was all said and done with so really ok that puts fedor making a million and nog making a million and chuck making a million and randy making a million then you look at someone like the number 2/3/4 tito ortiz in ufc making 250,000 per fight plus probably gate and ppv sales against the #1 wfa rampage making 150,000 a fight plus ppv and gate id say tito made enough off forrest fight and shamrock fight to retire twice i honestly think they probably pay damn near the same thing but i also know that tito is one of dana's golden boys so thats why hes getting that big cut
