Just as Ortiz stated the live gate in Pride is absolutely massive and I wuold imagine the PPV is 2+ times larger than UFC's so the payday the Pride fighters recieve is huge.

Yeah Tito is at $210,000 per fight plus PPV and Chuck is the highest payed UFC fighter at $250,000. Rich Franklin made a whopping $35,000 for his victory over The Crow and honestly you can see why he is paid less (but it sure as hell should not be any less than around $80,000 as he is the champ) and it is because that PPV only grossed 11 million compared to every other PPV this year which has grossed $18+.

GSP was the highest paid fighter on the card with $70,000 and that is also in cluding their winning bonus which is double their fighter slary.

I think the Pride fighters get a base slary and not a bonus salary for winning though I am not certain.

The orgs will only pay the fighters that bring in fans. Sak for example, could get dissmantled in every match and Pride would never drop him as he is the biggest name in japan along with Fedor (K-1 has Sak under contract now) which means it is really going to suck for Franklin because I do not see him gaining a fan base anytime soon. If he beats A. Silva, it won't do much for his career however if A. Silva wins I see a ton of fans jumping on his back as he has already gained a following with that performace against Leben.

Hughes is FINALLY getting more money, he was getting shit before and they upped him to $55,000 per fight and with the winning bonus $110,00 (forf the Royce fight this is what he was paid, Royce was paid $400,000) which is really sad when you think about it Hughes is hands down the most talented and dominate UFC fighter and as of right now IMO would go down as the best fighter in UFC history (that stayed with UFC).

I am on point most of the time and I must say, I feel that Kos has a great chance to compete on Hughes and GSP's level (I see Diego reaching that staus as well in the future), he is very young, he has the size, strength, is a very talented wrestler and is approaching his career very intelligently by training 90% on striking right now as he already has wrestling figured out.

I would think that after another 6 months of training 90% striking he will go into a 10% wrestling, 45% striking and 45% submission phase and within the next 2-3 years I see him being a world class fighter, possibly even sooner.

He is the only other WW aside from Riggs (but Riggs obviously does not have the heart to be a champion) that is as big as Hughes and GSP and with his wrestling skills, as long as his cardio was good and he learned the submissions (which i'm sure is next on his agenda after the standup as standup is the most important component to wrestling as subs are not goin to help you if your standup sucks as your opponent will just avoid the takedown and pick you apart) I could see him having great success in the UFC for many years to come.

He is certainly on the right track and seems very determined and focused, I would like to see him fight Riggs next and be tested in heart and cardio, that would be the best method to gauge his talent and where he stands as right now, it is raw talent but his standup was very impressive against Goulet so i would liek to see how it would fair against Riggs.

I have a very hard time believing if Pride seriously offered Sylvia a match with Fedor that he would turn it down. What probley happened is Sylvia and the UFC knew it was just bullshit and didnt respond so Pride starts talking shit. Thats if Pride issued a challenge at all. I think Sylvia would jump at the chance to fight Fedor (if it was for real and not just bullshit) so he could try to obtain the respect he doesnt get. You fucking Sylvia haters will believe anything that makes him look bad.

In that case, I offer the following reason:

Sylvia would be the underdog, very likely to lose.

If Sylvia lost, the value of his UFC belt would be irreversably reduced, and Pride's stock in the 'States would be immesurably increased.

Therefore Sylvia, with or without Dana pulling strings above his head, cannot risk taking the fight.

Other people in this thread have already explained this more eloquently and in more detail - I just thought I'd make it nice and easy for you so you can believe it's possible.

What a suprise a PRIDE VS UFC argument.:banghead: Fighters dont fight just because someone said they will fight them, there are so many legal entities and contract stuff that has to be worked out before two people step in the ring. I think we can over simplify the business side of it. These professionals Fedor and Sylvia are not afraid to fight each other. There are a whole lot of other fuckers standing in the way...

Well that threory is real nice. But my therory is Sylvia seriously thinks he is the best in the world. And hes sick and tired of not getting any respect. So i think if an offer was legimitly rejected it was Dana who did it. However I believe the whole story is bullshit. But Sylvia wants to be known as the best and beating Fedor is really the only way to do that. IMO no way Sylvia would turn down a 100% legitimate chance to fight fedor or any other top Pride HW. But you Sylvia hatters can dissect this bullshit all you want.

Your spelling of 'theory' is real nice too. I'm not sure if Sylvia really believes that he is the best, but he certainly talks like it so you may have a point.

Pride would certainly want this fight to happen - it'd be like betting on a Fedor win with 100/1 odds they stand to gain so much from such a small risk, so yes Dana and/or Sylvia rejected it if the offer was made.
when you say,

You make no sense. That offer is -always- on the table and is certainly legitimate and I'm sure UFC/Dana/Sylvia know that.
