Cro Cop threw the left consistently because it was his power shot. you dont trade combos when you are a counter fighter, and you dont trade combos with a guy who is trying to take you down, especially if its Noguiera and you have no ground game

thats why Gomi got taken down, he committed to combinations standing, trying to knock Aurelio out, and got taken down.
Man, I have been a huge CC fan since back in the day, but come on. He may have won the first round on points, but he was not "beating the hell out of Kongo". In fact, go back and watch it again. Although Kongo was backing up, he landed more shots than CC from the feet. It was CCs "aggression" and takedown / GnP that helped him take the first round.
You saying CC was "beating the hell out of Kongo" in round one is either a CC fan still in denial, or you overlooking and or bending what happened in order to make a supporting point in an argument.

And I understand the concept of counter fighting very well. But power shots or not, you still need to change it up. being one dimensional and/or predictable can end you in MMA.
Barnett, Wandy and Aleks were on the right path, trying to back CC up. They came right at him though. Fedor got it right, and then GG took a page out of Fedor's strategy and circled to CC's right and again, it made him uncomfortable, taking him out of his game plan.

Cro Cop has always been predictable

he was just so fast and explosive that it didnt matter. i dont know about his heart, but i know for sure he left his hustle in PRIDE. because i havent seen any of it. he had the advantage on Kongo in the first round because Cheick was afraid of him, backing away and giving him range, and he didnt punish him for it.

overall, he has not performed to the level that I expect, and it saddens me greatly. he was so gunshy, even in the first round that he won, that it was just depressing

Worst match-up since Tank/Mir.
Kongo just got the biggest win in his career and is starting to actually look like a prospect, and then they put him against a guy who is one of the best in the bussiness at the part of his game were he is the weakest?!
Stupid and a waste IMO.

The Cro Cop that showed up for Kongo was not the same Cro Cop that showed up for Nog. The levels of speed he used were in two different leagues. Against Nog, Cro Cop landed a shot and jumped away lightning quick. He was on his toes the whole fight with amazing footwork. Against Kongo, he showed virtually no footwork or speed whatsoever. He just walked around in a circle and threw strikes. He didn't ultize half of the speed or footwork he did in his more impressive fights. You can't compare Nog's fight with Cro Cop to Kongo's because the Mirko that Nog fought had a completely different style.

The point I was making was that Nog let him get away with circling left and throwing lefts. His quickness and footwork mainly came into play avoiding take downs.

Watch the fight against Nogs again and tell me that he didnt circle and throw strikes. Kongo actually threw leg kicks back, and then stopped Mirkos constant circling to the left and started kicking CC in the body (and eventually the nuts)
