| I wonder about Fedor Emelianenko's invincibility
I have seen about half his fights on Google video and YouTube and I am very impressed. I worry that people make him out to be this invincible machine and that, especially after his hand surgery, that he may not live up to the expectations.
I would rather see him lose in a complete war against a worthy opponent than against a guy who happened to be his first fight after a major surgery. Not to mention that this loss will come in PRIDE's first US show causing a lot of US MMA fans that are not familiar with him to not appreciate his accomplishments.
A question I have is who is closer to their peak Aleksander or Fedor? Aleksander is 5 years younger than Fedor, but does not have that air of invincibility around him. Has Fedor already peaked and started his inevitable downward slide (especially since the surgery) or is he is good enough shape and young enough to still dominate?

Of course no one invincible. I'm sure Fedor will be beat someday, unless he just gets bored and retires the Champion.
His hand surgery will only make him a better fighter IMO. He's been fighting with it injured since 2003, and we know what kind of fighters he's beaten in that time span.
To answer your last question Fedor is closer to his peak. He's gonna turn 30 next month and should be primed and ready to go now that he finally has his hand fixed. Aleks still has a ways to go. He's a solid young fighter but still needs to work on his cardio and submission defense. Give Aleks another few years and we may be talking about him like his brother.

Fedor is a champions champion, he is the most dominant champion in MMA history and most dominant fighter in MMA history as well as the best all around fighter in MMA history ("well rounded skills" as Joe Rogan would say). His fights are ridiculous, he distributes beatings to fighters and can take an unreal amount of punishment.
He survived the Randleman slam that would've broken normal fighters necks and moments later submits Randleman.
I suggest watching the Fedor vs Herring fight on Championship Chaos II, it is the first real evidence of what was to become of Fedor. Mind you this was the #1 contender match so Herring was no can, he was a world class fighter and thought to be the #2 ranked HW in the world at the time as he was the favorite going into the fight.
Watch that fight and then every Fedor fight in order after that, he is amazing an is hands down the best fighter in MMA history, certainly he is human and he can lose but he will never be out struck in a fight, if and when he goes down it will be a 1-2 punch or kick KO, he will in now way be dissmantled like A. Silva did to Leben or Arona did to Sak.

Fedor only gets better after the surgery. It's true he has been fighting with it since 03 and has been absolutely dominant during that time. There is not a HW in the world right now that can beat him. Aleks is not on Fedors level... yet. He doesn't have the cardio and seems susceptible to submissions. He will be a serious contender soon but i think that Fedors next serious threat will come from Josh Barnett who is going to win the Absolute.

Coleman did that on shear strength and wrestling ability. Fedor proved whose gorund game was really superior though.

His strengths were "perseverance and strong will". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fedor_Emelianenko |

Fedor's game is just sick now.
