All this talk about Hughes and stuff. I really don't see Hughes as the best. Since winning the belt he's defended against Trigg, Riggs, and Gracie. None of them I consider top-level competition. I think GSP will soon be the most dominant. He has been on a tear and barely lost to Hughes. He is the next big thing and then I think he'll stop Sanchez.

I know the round was almost up, but he got subbed in the first round. It wasn't a lucky submission, there isn't such a thing. He left an arm out and almost got it broken. In the rematch I think it's 50/50 who will win, but to say the first fight was "barely a loss" is a little bias.
I wasn't trying to be a dick, your argument was strong enough without trying to downplay his loss to the best Welterweight of all time.

In his prime I'd say it was Randy Couture. He was always the smaller guy fighting genuine big guys as the HW champ & putting up a damn fine display. Went to LHW & always came in as the underdog & whooped Ortiz & Liddle the top to LHW in the UFC/world at the time.
All this in an era of true mma. If Randy was 30-years-old today, he'd be just as dominant in LHW as Fedor is at HW.

Mark Kerr, Coleman, Fedor, Shogun, Silva, Frank Shamrock, Hughes... There are a ton of others but these are the fighters that standout more IMO

Vitor potentially hasn't reached his prime yet... He isn't even 30 years old yet. He just has been around for a long time since he started in the UFC at 19. So I would take Vitor off the list for now, as he can still enter into another level dominance if he gets his heart back.
