| Best in their PRIME
I have been wanting to ask this question for a while but I want to know who you guys think is the best fighter ever during their prime.... I dont want to knwo who is the better because the way the sport has evolved I want to know who you guys think was the best when they were in their prime, at the top of their game.....in my opinion Matt Hughes is the best fighter who is still peaking in his prime.

i would have to say...
Frank Shamrock. until Hughes, there was never a champ like Frank. his conditioning was the best in the game, his striking was excellent, and his ground game had nobody to challenge him
BJ Penn is still peaking, but the GSP fight his conditioning wasn't great and he gassed, BJ Penn coming to dominate a division is a threat, whether it's 170 or 155

Royce Gracie. In the first couple of UFC's he fought several times a night against much larger opponents and was able to defeat them fairly easily.Often times without even taking a single punch.

Unless he gets a career ending injury I'm going with GSP. He still hasn't reached his prime and he is starting to dominate.

Hell, even ken in his prime he was an effing beast, look at his match with bas rutton.
As of today's fighters, gotta give props to Hughes, Liddel, Fedor, and Gomi. They are studs.

he fought at 205? against renzo? i thought Renzo fought at 185. BJ has fought Machida at MW, so it makes sense if he was fighting Renzo there
