Rich Franklin or Matt Hughes- better UFC champion??

i know that Hughes is ranked higher as pound for pound, but i actually think Franklin is better. I know that Franklin hasn't been around the UFC as long as Hughes or had that title too long. But I think Franklin has better all around skills. He can stand up and strike and knockout opponents, as well as ground and pound like most top wrestlers, and he knows submissions. Hughes is really just a grappler that takes the fight to the ground and pounds his opponents, or submits him. I never see him standup and strike.

What do you guys think??

I think there pretty even Hughes has the better wrestleing. Franklin has the better stand up.

You have to give the edge to Hughes. I like Franklin a lot, but he doesn't have many wins over high quality opponents.

I'd say Hughes. He's a more dominant champion and has defended his title more often and against higher quality of opponents.

yeah, right now, we can say Hughes is better because of what he already did. But who do you think will have a better career in the UFC. Franklin hasn't gotten a chance to defend his title a lot. He only had 2 title defenses so far

I think Matt will have a better carear.I think he'll lose to GSP and Penn will give him a very tough match up ,but I see him being more dominant than Rich.I think Rich's days as champ are numbered.

well, Mike "Quick" Swick, who i'd rank #2 at 185 is the only one that i think could take that belt from Franklin. Those 2 will clean out the 185 pound division. I think one of these 2 will be the UFC MW champion for a long time

The question is who is the better champion, not the better fight. The answer to that is clear and simple, Rich Franklin. Rich is more marketable and has more of a chance to keep his belt then Hughes. Hughes has 3 guys that can take his belt and thats Penn, GSP and Sanchez. At this moment, Franklin only has one in Anderson Silva.

Don't even start with Swick, you are the biggest TUF nut hugger around man. I don't get it, who has Swick beaten. Franklin has beaten good opponents, the Crow is good, and Evan Tanner is no slouch. The only guy in the division right now who could beat him is Anderson Silva, and that is just because I think Rich would try to trade with him.

Seriously man, get off the Swick wagon until he beats someone. That being said I will apologize for calling you a nut hugger if Swick beats the Crow, but that won't happen.

As far as better career goes, Franklin all the way, I think in the end he is more well rounded, Hughes is great on the ground but can be outstruck by a lot of guys in his division and can be submitted. Until Franklin loses by knockout or submission it is hard to say that he has a weak aspect to his fighting style.
