He is young, doesn't seem to have suffered any brain damage, etc., why not become an announcer/ambassador for the sport? He would probably make more money doing that than fighting anyway. |
He needs to change things up. Dork has mentioned camps and he is right. Rich is in a camp where he can get nothing from it. Have him go to Hughes' new team for all I care... Xtreme Couture, The Pit... whatever.
I think he can beat Filho. I don't see Rich going to WEC though.
AA couldn't get another title shot while Sylvia was champion.. should he have just retired? No.
Nogueira wasn't going to get another shot against Fedor either.. should he have just retired? No.
Rich would do great as a commentator, but I think he has plenty of fight and developing left in him.

I wouldn't be remotely surprised if Rich and Anderson trained together. Considering the amount of respect they have for one another.

He hasnt fought Hendo, Lutter, Marquardt, Cote, Belcher, Leites, Grove, Kampmann, Leben, Martin, Lister, Terrell, Herman, or salaverry. It would suck if he retired becuase he still has yet to fight most of their middleweight division.

I don't know why a light didn't go off in my head that he hasn't fought any of these guys yet. But even if he had, I still wouldn't think that it was time for him to retire. He's way to young and still has it...just not against Silva

rich is way to young to retire, he should train with a different team. a team where he is not the best in camp, that would allow for room to grow. i just watched the mac , okami fight, thank god it was not on the ppv, very boring. i could see why they wouldn't resign him.

I really don't see Rich retiring.
Rich's contract is up, and even no he just lost Dana will sign him to more money for the fact he is 8-2 in the ufc and a former champ an draw. I see Rich signing another 5 fight contract fighting 4 fights then if he wins them all which he should, challenging for the belt an if he loses then retiring. That way with those 4 fights can make a shit load more cash an have a last chance at the title.
Then if he don't win the title he can go make a movie with Jim Carrey lol.
By the way i think Rich beats Filho.
First he needs to change Camps. That is a must if he continues to fight.

Unless Terrell comes in and KOs Herman in less then 30 seconds like he did with Lindland, there are no other contenders for the belt right now and the UFC has to know this.
The fight wouldn't be as hard to sell as you guys might think also. Just so replays of Anderson smashing guys then say now he gets the chance to avenage his last lost, then show clips of Okami GnPing people.
Also, if they werent planning on resigning Okami they wouldnt have had him fight their only other contender in MacDonald, they would have put him in there with some can like Sell or Smith.

Agree that Franklin need to change camps if he want another fight agaist Silva. Maybe work abit like a commentator and see if he get his fighting spirit back and then change camp and go for the title again, maybe start training with Wandy and get some good sparring |

Great article.
Given the choice between Big Nogs and Kongo, I'd take Kongo, too.
I'll be pissed if the LW belt isn't decided soon. If Adam Smith is any indication, appeals are apparently free, and this appeal shit could go on forever.
I feel belts need to be defended every 7 months, minimum. If you can't defend, it goes into contention, to be decided in the eighth month.
