– Kevin Iole at Yahoo!Sports.com backpedals on a report prior to UFC 77 that the winner of the bout between Tim Sylvia and Brandon Vera would face Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira for the vacant heavyweight title sometime in early 2008. “The Maine-iac” earned a unanimous decision win over “The Truth” this past weekend at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.

i dont think sylvia will have such an easy time humping Kongo against the fence in this fight.

I don't know Kongo is not that bad looking. He might have more motivation. JK. I think that Tim would get knocked out after he tried to stand and trade shots with kongo. Kongo's stand up is alot better then Tim's and I think that tim can't keep Kongo against the cage. I mean his name is Kongo fo god's sake.

ufc would dread having tim be the champion again. He gets booed heavily and is a terrible draw... not good for marketing

so what do they do? keep throwing him opponents that "have a chance" at beating hiim until he loses or just gives up? if he keeps winning he'll get his shot but i agree w/ you, it would be bad to have him as a champ again.

well, now that i thnk about it, vllians are always good draws for the wwe. maybe they push the fact that he sucks and more people will tune in to see him possibly get beat. could be a good marketing tool if they pitch it rght.

I'd like to see Nog have another fight too, but i guess it gets complicated when they have to pick an opponent that could fill the void if Nog lost.

I think Kongo is a bad match up for Sylvia. The UFC should definitely make that a contender match. Then have Nog fight AA for the other contender.

I like the sound of that. AA's due for a fight. Nog's perfect. AA's either gonna man up show us the AA we know and love (big trouble for Nog), or lay an egg and his ass kicked.
I was curious wether or not Tim was gonna get the title shot after that fight. I distinctly remember Dana saying the winner of the AA/ Werdum fight would get a shot. It didn't happen because of a lackluster fight. I didn't see the Silvia/ Vera fight but if the crowd was chanting "boring" that leads me to believe it was a lackluster fight as well. I think its definately Nog, AA, Silvia and Kongo at the top of the UFC's HW division.

Fuck it, Silvia vs. Lesner!
