Listening to Randy, it definitely sounds like the whole bonus system was fishy. He got bonuses for his last fight with Chuck and his fight with Tim but nothing for his fight with Gonzaga. It clearly upset him. In general, I think bonuses throws a wrench in the works. Everything should be kept above board. There is no reason for this kind of silliness. It just breeds jealousy and anger. I don't know if it will drive some kind of fighter's union, but why even risk it?

Overall a very professional press conference. It sounds like Randy gave the UFC a fair shake. It is not just a hissy fit.

Listening to the UFC press conference, it was a little odd to hear Dana say that he hasn't spoken to Randy face to face. Just seems inconsistent with Randy's account. However, it could also be the use of the phrase "face to face" after the fax.

The overall thing that I see from the UFC's side is what does Randy Plan to accomplish from his conference. I guess it's just to clarify things. However, one can't deny Radny's mix of subtle and overt attacks on the UFC's contract policies.

What a strange time to be an MMA fan. Guess it goes with the evolution of the sport.

Not really. We have known that there are bonuses beyond what are shown in official AC statements for along time (for example, the PPV cut).

Randy couture is the man from what I've read of what he said he sounds very proffessional and upfront.

I know quite a few guys like Dana. They like to walk into a room, blackberry in hand, swinging their dicks around like they own the place. I think celebrity has gotten to Dana a bit. I think that's the problem. He's not talent (a fighter) but the President of a lucrative organization. The BJ Penn/Jens Pulver Bad Blood special was what, a half an hour? Yet his show against Tito is what an hour or longer (don't remember how long). It's funny or ridiculous. I can't decide at the moment.
