On second thought, I would love to see him fight Hughes and GSP, and watch them both rip his head off and send him to rage in the cage, or M1, Bodog, somthing other than UFC. | whoa i dont like serra either but he's a really good fighter. You know what the problem is, if he's seriously injured and comes back late in 2008, he would NEED a win for ppl to consider him a legitimate champ. You can't take a year and a half off to come back and lose... u'll just be forgotten

LOL. the best part about this is the fact that the majority of this forum were hughes nuthuggers before GSP Ko'd him |
Haha... Of course; now GSP is the next big thing. I still say that Hughes is the most legitimate contender for greatest welterweight of all time. He's dominated the division for years and holds impressive wins over a who's who list of fighters. And let's not forget, Hughes and GSP are 1-1.... Yeah, GSP looked great in the 2nd fight (and I agree with everyone, he is the future of the division and an extremely talented fighter) but Hughes made a lot of mistakes in that fight and I think he will be well prepared and well motivated for this one. I see a war going down but I see Hughes taking it in the third by GNP... Not LNP!
Then we will see Hughes and Serra when he makes his comeback to unify the title. But that won't be nearly as exciting and I don't see many ways Serra can win that one; it's just a bad matchup...

I really want to see this fight. I just want to see Hughes beat the shit out of Serra so I can see if Serra is talking to himself as if he were a coach. I really hate Serra and his mouth. Granted Hughes talks alot of crap but he backs it up. Not to mention that Hughes has beaten more top fighters then Serra could ever dream about.
I hope this fight does still happen witch I think it will. I think Hughes beats GSP and then beats Serra and retires.

Hughes vs Serra wont happen until later when the UFC manages to set it up, because GSP is going to knock Hughes the fuck out again, for the 3rd time in 2 fights.
i guess talking a lot of shit to GSP, and then getting humiliated and KOd twice in the same fight is backing it up now.
vs Serra, who didnt talk shit about GSP, and went and knocked him out in less than 4 minutes. and still didnt talk shit, before or after GSP's loss. because GSP is a nice guy.
its not fucking Nick Diaz. its Matt Serra, who i've never even heard of talk shit, until he had to keep dealing with Matt Hughes. he didnt talk shit about GSP. he talked about the knee down thing from Rich, but it was a stupid idea anyways.

Serra took it to a whole new level. GSP said he underestimated Serra and didnt train properly, so serra decided to post that GSP is a liar and a fake gentleman and ended it off with "take a hike frenchie" or something like that. Does he stop there? no.... he ends up getting Renzo to stop training GSP.
There's a difference between playing mental games and talking shit before a fight to try and trying to screw up someone's training regimen after a fight

I dunno about GSP knockin Hughes out again.. I see it even at this point
Hughes cant train like he use to AKA hes past his prime
and
GSP has less then a month to train for Hughes
Both styliscally have the tools to beat eachother.. normally GSP would have the edge but time makes it even.

If Hughes loses to GSP, we probably won't see Serra vs Hughes.. the guy wants 2 or 3 more fights. If GSP wins the title and beats Serra to unify it, we won't see GSP vs. Hughes IV. Hughes will either retire or go after MW if he loses.

There's a difference between playing mental games and talking shit before a fight to try and trying to screw up someone's training regimen after a fight | not talking shit in the sense that he'll say some snide bullshit like "maybe he can learn armbar defense" and publicly laughing after your opponent gets KOd
"i love it!" what a douchebag.
thats different from getting mad when all someone did after you knocked them out was say "i give you respect" and then go on to make interview after interview where all that he says is that he underprepared and underestimated, and hurt his knee, and didn't train, when he said that he did not underestimate him, he was well prepared and healthy with a real training camp, right before the fight. that sounds like your taking away someone's credit.
as for training regimen? its a guy whos trying to get his belt, training at his mentors gym. he had been there first, and the fact that Serra was semi-retired until TUF 4, is the thing that changed before GSP stopped going to Renzo's

GSP vs. Serra at UFC 82
Fitch vs. Hughes at UFC 82
Winners fighting each other for the title sometime in Summer of 08 | I'd much rather see Fitch vs. Karo for a clear cut contender for the title after Serra. No way Hughes should get a shot after 1 fight is he loses.
As far as Hughes vs. Serra goes.... I don't care if I ever see it. In fact I really hope it doesn't. Maybe will stopping holding back title matches because of TUF. If it wasn't for TUF 4 the title could have been defended twice since GSP beat Hughes.
